of the "religious" coulda, shoulda, woulda's that most denominations sort of impose on you? or the representatives of the religion?

Because a lot of the answers I see from agnostics or atheists or non believers are the questions that have to do with "having to do all the right things in order to believe in God"

Ya I know "God is imaginary, yawn, you religious people push your beliefs on us?!, christians are hypocrites! or whatever comment you want to put I already know.

Please adult and civil discussion

Do you see any person who do not believe come judging people who do believe? They don't come to us and say "why do you believe in God? What sense does that make?"

Somehow we have the right to go to them and question what they choose to believe in or not.

The reason I don't believe is because I have never been offered any evidence of the existence of your god or any god for that matter. The only evidence I'm given is a 2000 year old book that was written by the equivalent of cave men by todays standards of knowledge. The fact that alot of people believe is no reason for me to "just believe"

My favorite reason christians give to believe is "Since the universe is so complex there must be an intelligent designer." Well if complexity requires an intelligent designer then god must have been created too, because what could be more complex than an invisible being, you can not experience with your five senses, that thought about everything and it was so?

Gods are created, in the human mind.

Also christians don't have a monopoly on knowing the difference between right and wrong.

When's the last time you heard of somebody blowing up something in the name of atheism?

I know you can think of the few christians that blew up abortion clinics in the 80's and 90's, and don't get me started on the muslims.

Atheists are able to understand and obey ethical laws without fearing a make believe place called hell.

Belief in things that do not exist is not necessary for life

I believe it is a combination of the, "coulda, shoulda, woulda's that most denominations sort of impose on everyone and the representatives of the religion"!!!

The Bible may have a few errors as it was written by man, but it is still the Best Book Ever Written!

It is kind of ironic how many people find God when they find out that there days, hours, minutes are running out!

You're mostly right. Lots of people think Christianity is all about lots of restrictions. Actually it's the opposite.

Yes, God did create us and has the right to tell us what to do and not do. And every last one of us is rebellious against that. Even the Bible says that not one single person gets it right.

There's 2 really cool things about being a Christian that most people don't realize. First, not only are you completely forgiven for your screw ups, but sin becomes less interesting to you, so you sin less. And doing the right thing becomes fun and enjoyable, just like doing the wrong thing used to be. Who would ever think that helping a hungry person could be more enjoyable than fornication? But it really works that way. He takes away the desire to sin, and replaces it with good things. It's pretty cool.

And secondly, when you do mess up (we all do), you're already forgiven. You just walk forward and try again.

Trusting Jesus for salvation is actually the coolest thing that can happen to a person and doesn't tie you down to a long impossible list of do's and don'ts. The retirement plan is awesome.

Religion is just like everything else in life... nobody Really knows the right answer. The Bible is God's Word and people have very different opinions about how it is suppose to be interpreted or followed. No one is perfect, we all make huge mistakes, but some of us look to God to forgive us others just go on and believe that whatever happens will happen. Religion is not an open and shut kind of thing and many questions will never be answered to our liking but we continue to believe. It's what is in our hearts that we should follow, not what our brain tells us. Personally, I am following my heart on this one.

well for me, it is just the entire concept of it. Just because we don't know everything, does not mean some "godly" being created it. As we have learned through the years, we have discarded religious beliefs that were held out as the "truth" over and over again.

The guy that said the world was 5000 years old a bit ago here, well, he needs education, not religion.

If there really is a god, and out of this entire universe, or universes, he hangs out in our tiny neighborhood, watching us, well he needs to get a new hobby.

Humans just have this need to have meaning, because we like to think that when we die, that we dont die. Some of us need an outside source to give us comfort, some just accept what life is and do the best we can while we got it.

I can look at my own family and answer that one. They did not want to follow any thing that had to do with God. They wanted to live their life the way they wanted to without having to answer to anyone at anytime. I am a Christian on the other hand that has no particular sect that I follow. I simply read the Bible and it makes perfect sense to me. It makes sense to do good for those that would mistreat you. How can they keep doing the same hateful and hurtful things if you are doing good for them? It makes sense to me if I see a mother and her child in a store and the mother doesn't have the money for the thing the child is crying for to buy it. The mother is almost in tears because she can not get it. That is called compassion and loving your neighbor as yourself. It doesn't hurt me to smile at someone when they seem so depressed with everything. It doesn't hurt me to say have a nice day to the people who are working in a store. These are the things that are being omitted. These are the lasting things of the Lord. Not the dos and do nots You will find the laws of God are in you when you start walking the walk.

I don't choose one religion or belief over another. If all who profess to a certain religion studied all the others they would see the similarities. I find it hard to believe one small group was chosen over all the other people of the world. That goes for christians, jews, muslums, sihks, buddists, or whatever. Also the bible makes no mention of Asia, the Americas, or Australia. Doesn't god like continents that start with A ? I didn't capitalize the names on purpose.

I don't believe because I was not brought up going to church, and god never really played a part in my life. I think of myself as a good person, and so does almost everyone I know. I see and hear Christians proclaiming that you can't be good without god, but I know it isn't true from personal experience. So, if there is a god, and I have to stand before him, I can honestly say that I have done my best to do good for the world.

I have my own beleifs they arent christian but they are suited to my tastes. there were religions before christianity and there will be religions when christianity is long gone. A much better religion will always take the place of the one that fell, but whatever the case may be my loyalties are not with christianity, which has made my life a living hell with fear guilt and shame disguised as praise and worship BS

my ancestory alone should tell you to shut up and go away: I am a native american who feels that no native should ever be christian on the grounds of how the white man made slaves out of them and didnt care.

I'm not really sure what you are asking, but why is it that you believe in God? I think the answer is really that simple. It isn't a matter of who is right or wrong, at least in my mind. It is just ones idea of what can not be explained. You choose to believe, I choose not to. I believe in science and in fact. There is really no more to be said.

"Because Satan has got a firm grip on them". Please, lets get real here. This is why people argue. It is not a matter of who is right and who is wrong, it is one persons OPINION vs. an other. That is all you have is an OPINION! You have no way of proving whether or not your right or wrong. This is why they call it faith. Have faith that you opinion is true and hold it in your heart, but do not tell me that I am going to hell because I choose to stray from your path. Find tangable evidence that God is real, and in the way that you worship him. Then come talk to me about Satan. Until then keep your hate full comments to yourself, as they do not serve your God well.
