Instead of a smug one-liner that answers nothing, I wil attempt to answer from the perspective of Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Eastern Orthodox concepts of "hell" are not like the extreme legalism that came to dominate at least some forms of Western Christianity. For the Eastern Orthodox, "hell" is not so much a place as a state of existence. In Orthodox eschatology, ultimately, everyone will end up in the same "place", all exposed to God in ways that we do not yet experience. For some, this will be experienced as a comforting warmth. Others will experience it as scathing fire--this is probaly metaphorically speaking. The difference will be due to how one relates to God. "Hell", thus, depends upon how the individual person chooses to experience the Energies of God. Now, one might object that it would not "make sense" for someone to "choose" such agony, but look at the people around us. We all know someone who prefers to wallow in anger and hate, building their own living hells. These people should know better, but they would rather be hateful and spiteful, then they wonder why they always feel so empty--or maybe they don't wonder, perhaps they just feel empty and lash out again.

Who will end up in the "heavenly" or the "hellish" conditions? While the Orthodox Church will certainly teach that our way is far safer, we cannot presume to pre-judge God's will nor usurp His throne or rights of Judgement. Thus, it is all ultimately in His hands, as far as the Orthodox Church is concerned, and His mind is beyond our comprehension.

This Hell as in the Hell you live in? You need to find that answer within yourself. The rest of the world does not exist in the same state of being as you do. Many are experiencing something more akin to heaven right here and now. Many are not. The hell is within you.

Hell may operate on the laws of relativity also. In the sense that like attracts like and paradigms overlapping into concepts spiritually. Like objects would be attracted to each other like magnetism and would been reported as such hell by those spiritiual explorers who have experienced them.

God used to have an angel who was his "right hand man" like second only to the big man... that angel was named Lucifer... Lucifer was given to much power by God and tried to revolt, feeling he was more powerful and could make a better leader. Michael the Arc Angel defeated Lucifer in battle and God expelled him from Heaven sending him to the place we now know as Hell... (Lucifer is Satan if you did not pick up on that.)

I'm with you. God is supposed to be "All Forgiving" correct? Then why is there a need for Hell? Because technically, every 'sin' should be forgiven. And if God isn't All Forgiven, would this be a lie also - making God a sinner?

Heaven is living in the presence of God. It includes all things that are a reflection and a result of God's nature. Everything that is wonderful and beautiful and good here is a taste of what it will be like to be in heaven.

Hell on the other hand is what it is like to be outside the presence of God. With everything that is a reflection of the nature of God removed, you are left with hatred, bitterness, injustice, pain, suffering, malice, impurity, deceit, and so on. All these things on earth are just a taste of what it will be like to live in hell--outside the presence of God.

The Bible teaches that God is holy, and that man is not. The only way we can exist in God's holy presence is by the forgiveness of our sins through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Anyone from anywhere and from any back ground can seek God's forgiveness through Christ and live forever in the presence of God in heaven. Anyone from anywhere and from any background can also CHOOSE not to seek forgiveness through Christ and can choose to go his or her own way, which results in living outside the presence of God forever.

Why should God make those who say "no" to Him have to live in His presence forever?

Hell, simply put, is separation from God. Those who are in Christ and follow him will enter the gates of Heaven. Those who do not will enter the gates of Hell. It's that simple.

Follow Christ and keep His commandments.

Hell exists because opposition to the divine and practicing evil is the love of some people. God does not destroy his creations and He preserves them.
