This is true even from a biological evolutionary point of view. It happens when you live for your species and you want to see them alive and well, even if it costs your own personal benefit.

Yes. Be willing to put anothers needs before your own and it is possible. Being selfish ...one who is selfish will not be able to treat their neighbor as they want to be treated because it is all about them, not anyone else.

It depends. If your neighbors are a pain in the butt, then no. But if they're nice people, then yeah it's possible, though hard.
