...because atheists don't have to suscribe to a doctrice or tradition of beliefs?

No, there's a lot of unprovoked hatred and anger toward atheists here. Read around and you'll see it.

True, not "all", but I didn't say "all", I meant more than "some" but less than "most".

There are plenty of Christians out there that do "hate" atheists. And that is evident right here on YA. And it has been my experience that the reason for this animosity is that our very existence threatens their sanity.

Their grasp on reality, and their very concept of life, the universe, and everything centers on a belief in a god. Our very existence is insulting to them, and we threaten to undermine the "suspension of disbelief" that they live under. In addition, we also threaten their belief that their loved ones, who have died, do not exist in heaven, and therefore, this brings them a great deal of sadness, etc. This is due to the fact that they have lived their lives in anticipation of rejoining these lost loved ones.

Basically, we pretty much piss in their cornflakes.

I know. I remember back when I was one of them... the very thought of someone being an atheist was vile to me. I considered them the lowest of the low. I'm glad I had that experience in fact. It helps me to understand who I'm dealing with, most of the time...

Atheists don't say "hate the belief not the believer"... perhaps we should as it clearly is a thing highly deserving of hate, I think though that hate is a very strong word and one you should keep in store for the very extreme things in life that one can only hate.

I don't value Christian belief, the believers themselves display a smugness and arrogance that would be hard to find the match of, quite simply they are wrong and no amount of religious tyranny and tantrum throwing or threats will make them right.

Christians are jealous because really they know atheists have it figured whereas they are clinging to something outmoded and out of it's time of usefulness, it is also out of it's place, it belongs in the middle-east, it is an anachronism and a mass delusion that has grown too big and gotten out of control, divided into bickering sects all claiming uniquely to hold the truth when in fact none do.

Of course Christians (especially the modern ones) aren't going to admit to hatred. And, there are verses to back up the claim (i.e.-love your neighbor). It just goes to show how hypocritical the 'Good Book' can be. How many stories are in the OT about God ordering the murder of these people or those? (I'm sure some were neigbors) I think the Bible says something about hatred in terms of Sodom & Gomrrah. If he hates the sin and not the sinner, why kill them? At the time, there was no afterlife so that was it. Christians, as long as the OT is attached, you can't claim your imaginary friend is not hateful.

I can only be responsible for my own actions, I refuse to burden my soul with any ones beliefs, but if you are under the assumption that Christians hate atheists because of their beliefs then you are wasting the grey matter in your brain. Consider that even if that were a true statement what could you possibly do to change that particular belief? Why would it matter what a Christian believes, if you yourself are not Christian? Do you feel persecuted by others beliefs?

i'm a christian and i dont hate atheists at all as long as they dont mock my beliefs we are okay. More than anything i feel bad for Atheists because I feel people who dont believe in any higher being at all, have no hope in life. When things go wrong they have no one to turn to, real or otherwise. Even if god doesnt exist, at least the hope is there and you have someone to pray too if you believe. And you shouldnt make sweeping generalizations like that.

I think they're jealous because us atheists have a brain.

Also, isn't it funny how all of the Christian answers say they don't hate anyone but then they go answer an atheists or agnostics question and then tell them they're going to hell. I've even been told I'm the anti-christ.

Christians don't hate atheists. Well, individual Christians may well fall into the error of hatred; "Christian" and "perfect" aren't the same word.

When someone lives in sin, however, they are very likely to perceive love and concern as hate and oppression. That probably can't be helped. Christians ought to act in humility and in the spirit more than we do, though.

Best wishes and God bless.

I can give you millions of examples of atheists imprisoning and killing Christians. See Russia, China or any other other country where atheists run the system. Can you give me any examples of Christians killing atheists? I am sure there may have been isolated incidents but the atheists are way ahead on this one. You see atheists feel they have a right to be God themselves since they don't believe in God.

Here we go again....true "Christians" do not hate 'atheists' we "Hate The Sin" but not the sinner.

Here we go again....true "Christians" are not "Jealous"...jealousy is a 'deadly sin' and not something for true "Christians" to practice as part of our beliefs period.

We true "Christians" believe that 'atheists' are just our fellow human beings who have not yet "seen the light" and we diligently pray for them to someday "see the light" as we have.

PS: The "Light" can be found in the teachings of Jesus Christ"

Christians don't hate... but they do dislike evil doctrines.

Atheists have "fun" in this life time, - but pay the price later on. Besides, -"fun" has it's own problems in this life time anyway.

Everyday that pasts... atheist have more-and-more to worry about, hence their decadent life-content. For every day that pasts for a Christian, -it's one more step toward their day of completion.
