mislead? Jesus said " 21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers" Belief in Jesus is not enough for Salvation!

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Indeed someone might say, "You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works. You believe that God is one. You do well. Even the demons believe that and tremble.

Do you want proof, you ignoramus, that faith without works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works. Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called "the friend of God." See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. And in the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by a different route? For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

James 2:14-26

The point Jesus was making in the passage you quote is the exact opposite ... that good deeds (driving out demons, performing miracles) would NOT get them into heaven, and are not enough for salvation. They were calling Him 'Lord', but not obeying Him as Lord. Their 'good works' were more for show or to try to earn something from God, and not done out of a changed heart & love for God.

Only saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ saves a person. However, in the book of James, saving faith is described as a faith that is accompanied by works. These works are done as a result of our faith ... not to earn salvation, because salvation is by grace alone, so none can boast (Eph. 2:8-9)

The will of the Father is to Love God, love others as you would yourself. That is the greatest command that Jesus said to the religious experts, when love is your motivation in your life the rest will fall into place.

God didn't save us to be in the business of the church, to be political or anything like that. Jews motive is because of becoming king or a leader in the political. God saved us because He loves us and wants a relationship with us. Maybe you oght to educate yourself in the Jewish customs and then determine the scripture according to the times.

CORRECT> salvation is NOT a "FREE" ride, we must work to live good lives also...according to the ten commandments!! good point! Jesus describes people who "believed" in Jesus inorder to perform miracles..this can be applied to our faith as well> We have to live good lives inorder to enter the kingdom of Heaven>

People are misled because they want to be. They want a way to justify their prejudice and hatred, so they twist and pervert Christianity to satisfy their baser desires. It's alot easier than being a REAL Christian, which means living your life as Christ did. He didn't even get mad at the people who crucified him, but I've seen preachers foaming at the mouth just because 2 men wanted to get married.

no ..belief is not enough even satan believes in Jesus....what I believe it means is that there are many who are confessing they are Christians and they fail to live for Jesus...a true follower of Christ gives His life for Christ...in other words lives obedient and seeking God...prays and reads the Word....spends time with God ...builds a relationship with God.....now there are some who think just because they say they are Christians and go around living their life for themselves and giving no heed to the teachings of God well I believe they are who it is talking about.....it isnt enough to just say you must live it as well...

That would make more sense. I asked many times and people tell that good deeds don't lead to heaven. I often wonder if we were suppose to follow Jesus's examples. Like can u follow his examples but noy believe in God or accept Jesus as our savior? Dunno if that makes sense.

esero26 said: "CORRECT> salvation is NOT a "FREE" ride, we must work to live good lives also...according to the ten commandments!!"
this is where the catholic( and parhaps the prodestant) church is making a mistake.
when jesus heals someone on sunday and broke one of the commandements he said that people should stop following the commandments and moses but follow him and his laws!!!
everywhere I see people striving to obay the commandments and think they are cristians. cristian means follow christ, this would not be completely following him, one could say it is even partly jewish mabye.

Any dog can do tricks and any person can pretend to be who they are not ... God can see into your heart and there will be the truth , and He will decide your fate.. Another words you can't fake your way into heaven.

There are a lot of people who believe that they believe in Jesus who really don't understand what they believe in.
