Any ideas on what color would look best on the walls? I want to avoid blue or green. And I want to keep it light to brighten up the room. Thanks.

A bright, bold red or cranberry color would be very nice. I don't think a pastel would look good due to the dramatic contrast of the black and white. I think you will need a strong color. Maybe go to the local paint store and get several samples to look at while standing in the kitchen.

Almost any color would be good. A nice sunny yellow would be nice. Or a paler shade of yellow. I sponge painted in a previous house. I used green which you are wanting to avoid, but it was fast and easy. I sponged onto the white walls leaving some white to show through. It came out very nicely. Nice and airy feeling. I have also used stencils to make a trellis with ivy trailing up the trellis. It also left paler colors peeping through. Almost anything can work. Check out all of your techniques before you start. There are a lot of simple, but nice ones out there.

Red would be nice - as long as you don't have a lot of wall space. Too much red might look weird in a kitchen.

Maybe a nice rich taupe color.

Yellow wouldn't really go well with that, unless it's in small accents. Since you don't like blue or green, perhaps a pink or peach, with borders and accents of other colors?

Don't use yellow, your kitchen will look like a school bus or a taxi cab.

If you want, you could use pink, or green. I think those are perfect combinations with black and white.

Good luck!

Red will really make it pop if you go with light colors it will make the room look faded.

Vibrant yellow, especially if it's a kitchen.
