Here in America we have thousands of micro-breweries that popped up over the last decade. I just got back from a vacation to the down underverse and 1 thing that stuck me as odd was the lack of micro breweries?

Hats of to Cooper's brewery for delivering good beer to the people of Australia! Are there really few of them downunder, or did I just not notice?

If you an Aussie or a Kiwi, are there any micro breweries around you? Can you buy good micro brews in the store?

Anyone familiar with Au/NZ and the US want to shed light on the subject for me?

There are many in New Zealand. There's lots in Nelson and many of them are off the beaten path, although they do run tours.
