use a shampoo/conditioner that helps mend them back together... or repair them... pantene pro v is good
i would recommend trimming it, cutting only the split ends off, it will be so much easier for you if you do this...

Being a hairdresser, really the best advise is to trim them. But if you absolutly do not want to do that, here are a few things you can do.
Its all about product. If you want your hair to be healthy, look and feel healthy then you need to nourish it just as you would your body. First if you use panteen pro v.....STOP. That is like putting perm solution on your hair daily. Get proffesional product, it may cost a few dollars more, but it is consintrated so it doesn't really make a big difference in price b/c you don't use as much as you would over the counter. I promise you if you change shampoos and get a good conditioner then you will see results with in a few weeks. Also it is good to go to your local salon and get a deep conditioning treatment at least a month. If your split ends are bad, then go 2 times a month. Eating healthy also helps, remember your hair and nails are apendages of the skin.....so if you want to have beautiful skin, hair and nails. You have to treat it good.
If you put color on your hair, go to the salon and let the professionals do it., They use product that is less damaging to your hair than wal-mart or cvs pharmacy etc. That will help. If you do damaging things like color or perms, strait iron, blow dry daily....you really need to trim your hair every 4-8 weeks for the healthiest look and feel.

There is a good and a bad news. The good news is that you can avoid split ends. The key answer is moisturizing. Use conditioner / and or creams after washing your hair with shampoo. I used to have the same problem, but when I regularly used the conditioner, I have zero percent of split ends now. Also, avoid excess hair drying and bleaches, perming, dies etc. Eat foods rich of vitamins and minerals. They are good for your hair.
The bad news is that once split ends happened, it is incurable. You MUST cut those damaged ends because they will make your hair look fuzzy. Hair shafts are dead parts that cannot heal. So, just cut these ends, and you can start building a healthy hair afterwords.

Cutting is always the best. Just have your mane cut to 1/4 inch on the ends if you do not want any length taken off. Conditioner does not do any good except to seal the cuticle and a detangler for easier combing.

Try to not blow dry your hair very often. That heat splits the ends so fast. And don't brush your hair. If you'll comb with a large tooth comb to get out the tangles. That should help.

you can't really fix them without cutting, but you can make them look better by using a deep conditioner once a week and then use a shine serum or pomade only on the ends of your hair (helps disguise them!) a nice 1/4 inch trim always helps too

Try a Deep Conditioning Treatment First. Also, try a Special Conditioner-Repair Treatment by Nexus called "Keraphix".

I think you have to have it trimmed. My aunts a beautician. She trims the ends. Then get some good gentle shampoo to make it last longer, and massage the conditioner into the ends. Avoid heat as much as possible on the ends.

Nothing- you have to clip them or they will just split further up the hair shaft and you'll have to cut MORE hair off the longer you wait.
