Harry Potter series, A boys guide to life, The Dangerous Book For Boys. You might also just want to go look through your local book store and ask what they may have for his age group or perhaps a gift certificate.

Like some of the other people who have responded, I agree with Harry Potter series. Another suggestion would be to go to your local library and see if they can provide you with a list of the current Newbury, Caldicott, etc... winners. Have you considered asking at the bookstore where you plan on purchasing these books? A gift card to the bookstore is also nice. This way, he is able to pick out his own books. If you wanted to personalize it a bit more, take him with you then go for lunch or a cone of ice cream. Good Luck!

thoughts of a 4th Grade no longer something is pretty a lot about a 9 twelve months previous boy's adventures at the same time with his little brother. i truly loved it even as i replaced into that age. I 2d the perception of sorting out the library's reading record for his grade, those books are frequently spot on.

The Henry Huggins and Ribsy books are great for that age. I still remember those books. Beverly Cleary wrote some great books for kids (girls like the Ramona Quimby books) and just about any would be a good choice ("The Mouse and the Motorcycle", for example).

Maybe the "Captian Underpants" series by David Pilkey. "Harry Potter" is also a favorite of that age group. "Chronicles of Narnia" are also a good choice. "The Giver" by Lowry is one of my favorite books, as well.

Most parents have asked their kids "What would you like to be when you grow up?". Because it's never too early to expose kids to what they may be interested in, for instance, being an architect, you would get kid-friendly books about buildings. So whatever he wants to be when he gets "big"...lol...go for it.
