"to skin the cat" refers to a boy's gymnastic trick: "In America, as any country boy knows, this means to hang by the hands from a branch or bar, draw the legs up through the arms and over the branch, and pull oneself up into a sitting position. cut a circle around its neck and while holding the head, rip the skin from neck to toe in one quick pull. It might get stuck a little on the legs so just snip a little by the shoulders if this happens. I have also seen people cut a line from the lower abdomen up to the cut in the neck, but I think this can hurt the meat inside. But be careful, dead skinned cats are surprisingly slippery.

well, you could do it the same way you skin rats, as in, while it's still alive, break out it's teeth, reach your hand down it's throat, pull it's tail towards it's mouth from the inside, turning it inside out. Pull off intestines and roast w/ curry powder and salt. No skinning necessary! eat the meat out, turn right side out again, cut head out, line inside w/ spare cloth, then use as hand muff/warmer
