Lots of answers. I have some research to do to answer my question. Thanks for the links, the "footprints", the biblical references( I knew I would get some of those), and thank you all for your responses. I guess I'm as up to date as I thought I was on the subject.

Question: “What does the Bible say about dinosaurs? Are there dinosaurs in the Bible?”

Answer: The topic of dinosaurs in the Bible is part of a larger ongoing debate within the Christian community over the age of the earth, the proper interpretation of Genesis, and how to interpret the physical evidences we find all around us. Those who believe in an older age for the earth tend to agree that the Bible does not mention dinosaurs, because according to their paradigm, dinosaurs died out millions of years before the first man ever walked the earth. The men who wrote the Bible down couldn’t have seen dinosaurs alive.

Those who believe in a younger age for the earth tend to agree that the Bible does mention dinosaurs though it never actually uses the word “dinosaur.” Instead, it uses the Hebrew word tanniyn (pronounced tan-neen; Strong’s #08577). Tanniyn is translated a few different ways in our English Bibles; sometimes it’s “sea monster,” sometimes it’s “serpent.” It is most commonly translated “dragon.” The tanniyn appear to have been some sort of giant reptile. These creatures are mentioned nearly thirty times in the Old Testament and are found both on land and in the water.

In addition to mentioning these giant reptiles in general nearly thirty times throughout the Old Testament, the Bible describes a couple of creatures in such a way that some scholars believe the writers may have been describing dinosaurs. Behemoth is said to be the mightiest of all God’s creatures, a giant whose tail is likened to a cedar tree (Job 40:15ff). Some scholars have tried to identify Behemoth as either an elephant or a hippopotamus. Others point out that elephants and hippopotamuses have very thin tails, nothing comparable to a cedar tree. Dinosaurs like the Brachiosaurus and the Diplodocus on the other had huge tails which one could easily compare to a cedar tree.

The explanation you seek is a simple one, M. Dinosaur fossils are the fossilized remains of dinosaurs. They are not mentioned in the Bible, because, as you say, humans were not around when dinosaurs were, so there is no reason why humans from Biblical times should know about them.

The only people that have a problem with dinosaurs are those that have a problem with Evolution. I don't have a problem with the notion of Evolution for two reasons:

1. Because it's just another Scientific theory. Mabye it's right, mabye it's wrong.... mabye it's partially right and partially wrong.

2. Because I realize that the Bible was written by people that favored an artistic approach over a logical approach when it came to matters of spirituality. Moses could have meant ANYTHING when he said God made the Universe in six days.

If you get a chance read the Bible so you can see what I'm saying (the Genesis account at the very beginning, not so much to change your beliefs but so that you can see where I'm betting it from) but God made all living things first before humans, humans were his last creation. Said He made the angels than the universe, then set up the earth to support life, then he made the fish in the sea, plants, the birds in the air and the animals on land, then finally after all that he made Adam and then finally Eve. So it is entirely possible that dinosaurs could have been around and no humans.

The Genesis account and science's account of when and how animals showed up are very similar. The Bible says fish first, then plants, then birds and land-based animals together, then humans. Which is exactly how science and evolution says they showed up. Basic bacteria and amoebas and so on (microscopic organisms) showed up in the ocean and evolved to fish, then came out on land as amphibians and later reptiles, which evolved into birds, and birds evolved back to mammals. And the final mammal to have evolved out of this was humans. Science and God (the Christian version) don't disagree completely yet on when they showed up, only the reason they showed up. Read more on both scientific theories and on various religious ideas (Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and any other that you can find), read all you can and then make the decision and you will be sure completely then no matter what you decide.

if you wanta bring the fossils into this, acording to the fossil of records there is a large layer of no life forms what soever and there was life in the layer just before it and, how do you know that there weren;t land slides and floods that caused the layers to be scrambled. You can't go based on the ground of a planet that is so unstable, even today, you could find a dinosaur bone right next to a burried coke can, you can't say they existed at the same time. And just so you know, i believe in creationism and evolution, to an extent. I'm christian, god took 7 days to create the earth, mathusila asked god how long a day was to him and god said, longer than you've lived, people assume it is 1000 years, but when you assume you make an *** out of u and me, it also said that on the 7th day god rested, if god rested for even a second, the world would be turned upside down, and the bible said that on the 6th day god made the animals, and then man, and since he is still making people, i don't think we've reached the 7th day yet, i think that when the bible said, the beast will take controll for 7 or ten years, i think that will be when god takes his rest.just my opinion. i.m. me if you want to discuss

How do I explain dinosaur fossils? By saying there were creatures that used to roam the earth and we call them dinosaurs. By the way, the word "dinosaur" came into being in the 1800's.

I don't know anything about the timeline, when they lived, etc. But I've no problem accepting that they did. The bible mentioned large creatures, but translated into English they were named "beasts" or "dragons".

And for the claim that there is no evidence people existed when dinosaurs did...I would take that with a grain of salt!

There is some evidence of coexistence. In several places there are dinosaur and human tracks that overlap one another, a sign that one was tracking the other.

There are also cave paintings depicting dinosaur hunts, and the book of Job in the Bible describing a creature with a neck and legs like tree trunks, and skin like overlapping shields. There have been a few modern animals put forth as the animal being described, but no modern animal truly matches the description given.

There is a human foot print in a dino footprint int he paluxy river bed in Texas.

Many who say evolution only automatically disprove these and say they are hoaxes or just misleading and are actually something else.

Scientists aren't perfect. In the old Temples of Greece and Roman they had bones that were either fossils or just bones of dinosaur and other large extince creatures. The anthropologists weren't looking for these bones and just threw them out and didn't even catalog them. Scientists aren't unbiased. They like information that agrees with their view and they do sometimes throw out what doesn't (especially if its an expensive funded project)

There is actually evidence that humans and dinosaurs exited at the same time. I watched a science film where they showed human footprints and dinosaur prints dated at the same time. This film was not made by Christians, and the scientists tried to pose several "logical" explanations as to how this could be possible. They skipped the most logical one however.

Actually archeologists found a fossil of a dinosaur print and at first all the universities wanted it, but the print was followed by a human footprint that was the same age and they all rejected it, eventually it was taken to a private christian university.

I am a moslem

We moslems believe that everything is Allah's creation.
So why don't the dinosaurs ?

Please refer to The Holy Quran surah Al Baqarah, around the first 40 verses which tell about the creation of Adam.

The angels were asking upon Allah's statement that HE was going to create Adam to be the ruler on earth, since humans are really like to spill each other's blood and create destructions.

So for us moslem, it's clear that earth exist first :D
Of course it's easy for Allah to adjust earth's condition so that humans are able to live in it. Then Allah create a human to live in it.

As for dinosaurs, if Allah can create the humans on the fly easily, why can't Allah create dinosaurs on the fly in that fashion too ?

The question is : how did the angels learn about human's trait ?
I wonder myself if there was a creature similar to human that share the same traits.
