When I was your age, I had the same problem. I never really made friends along the way, but as I grew up, I learned how to do so. Some of the tactics I learned as I was older, I know I could have applied when I first went to high school.

One of those tactics is to find someone like you who acts the same way. If you see someone who you think acts like you do or has a hard time making friends, too, you can just hang out around them. You don't even have to talk to them.

Most likely, they have the same concerns about making friends as you do. If you hang out by them, they'll probably see that it's hard for you too. And when both of you know that, it probably will make your situation seem a lot less difficult. Eventually you might be able to talk to them or they might talk to you.

don,t be afraid of high school, it's just like any place else you might go that has strange people. be your self at all times, don't allow other people to influence you. use your own mind, the first impression is probably the right one.if you don't feel good about something or someone your properly right. keep your mind on your studies, friends will follow. if your a slacker that's the kind of friends you'll meet. but if your in to your school work then that's the kind of friends you'll meet.however you act then that's the kind of friends your going to attract.so just be yours self, keep your mind on your school work, and getting good grades, that's what's important.don't let any one make you think different. education is the most important thing in this world, and it's something that no one can ever take from you. and remember just have fun when school starts. i would like to hear how your first week of school went. so good luck.

Everyone is afraid at first. You have to prepare yourself mentaly. Know that some of the older kids will make comments and don't take them personally. It would be ideal if you have a friend that you can talk to that is going to the same school. It would be great if you and this friend agreed to support each other the first few days. It doesn't mean that you have to be exclusive friends. You should take a tour of the high school before you go, so that you are familiar with it. Be brave and confident and don't show fear. If you don't know anyone the first few days ...just observe everyone else and smile at everyone, someone who is as afraid as you are will love it if you talk to them. Tell yourself that you are brave and that you are a great kid who will be a great friend to have. You will be great...don't worry.

No reason to be scared. It is really not going to be as bad as it seems. My son was a Freshman last year-had the same feelings but it turned out fine. My daughter will be going into high school this fall and because her brother just went through it, she's not even nervous. Be yourself, join clubs because you will get to meet people. Do study-that is the most important part.
Relax and have fun! Don't let anyone change you.

Your fears are not without merit. It is a scary experience. The best way to face this experience is to be part of a group/club. Join band, choir, theater, or any of the myriads of clubs at school. This will give you an instant group of people that have the same like/dislike as you. You then need to be proactive and approach those in the club and invite them to have lunch with you and some appropriate after school activity. This will ease your transition into high school. Good luck!

It's ALWAYS scary to go into something new. You have to realize that there are a lot of other kids who're just as scared as you are. They don't know their way around, everyone seems to know more than they do, etc. Get involved at school. Join some clubs and committees. Join the yearbook staff or the newspaper staff. Those are all great ways to meet people and it won't feel so awkward. Good luck!

It sounds like you are just shy ,so try and talk to the people who sit in class with you and sit with people at lunch. Even if not all of them want to be your friend there are other shy people out there who want to be talked to. You can find them.

Also, high school is hard on everyone even those that make fun of others. But it is only 4 years and I'm sure you will survive the transition.

Be nice to people and don't be afraid to speak up. Don't let people walk all over you, but don't act like a jerk either. You will see once you get in high school that it's a lot easier then you think. You will probably be in the same classes with people from your middle school that are just as scared as you.

I was sooo scared to go to high school too. But no worries, it's an absolute blast! The teachers treat you like adults, and make funny jokes..haha You'll love it, and you'll find friends. Just take it one step at a time. Think at one class at a time, and one teacher at a time. Don't try to take it all at once, because that is what may make it seem scary. Step by step and you will love it!

High school isnt all that bad! Dont worry! I remember when I first went into high school I was kinda nervous of all those older people. But actually it wasnt as bad. Its exactly the same as middle school but just alittle harder in the classes. Dont worry, find people, introduce yourself. Be friendly, you will be sure to find someone you can hang with. Good Luck! =)
