I would let it go. Why make an *** of yourself over words?

Laugh at them unless their holding a weapon. If they are, suckerpunch them and run away. Do not take offense! Many people who can't handle a situation strike out at others verbally and don't even realize they have said such crudeness. If you are an important person in their life, ask them what they mean, everybody needs to vent and the explitive is the easiest. Just don't be so thinskinned that you lose communication. This is not the advice I would have given fifty years ago because crudeness then was unusual. It no longer is rare, so grow up and help others to grow up too.

It would depend on the situation. But, 99% of the time, I wouldn't say anything - I refuse to stoop to their level.

It's worth the trouble, just ignore them. You sound like a polite person, so just don't deal with it and don't let it bother you.

depends on their tone saying it & their disposition when they say it & their manner, i guess you can say it playin around & it'd be nothing, you can say it mean & i would respond in kind, or you can say it violently as if approaching me in a menacing way & i'd put you down hard on the ground & give you a lesson in ju jitsu at the expense of your bone integrity

I would definitely say something. As to whether or not I put my hands on them...well, that's up to them. As it's said, they may start it, but I'll damn sure finish it.

If you are offended you owe it to yourself to let the offender know. (how else will they?)
Remind them that profanity is a sign of a small vocabulary and offer to let them borrow your thesaurus.
