We found a cat in our bushes and we left the door open so she could leave if she wanted to go home and she left but then we found her in our bushes again. What should we do??

I really don't want to take the cat to the pound or whatever I don't want it to be put down and it is just a baby.

I want it to be safe.

Is it right to give it away if we can't find the owners??

We can't keep it. And we don't think it is a stray because when we found it, it looked like it had been eating. So either other people have been feeding it or it does have owners. It might just be lost.

One problem we have is that we can't keep the cat for two weeks to put up flyers and stuff. We need to get rid of it. It is bugging my dog. But I don't want to see it get hurt.

Contact the local vet offices and shelters. If she is a lost pet, odds are the owners have left messages there in case someone finds them.

And yes, it is fine to give it away. Chances are if it didn't have a collar it is an outdoor cat. If you can find someone to give it a loving indoor home, please do so. You can't hold on to it forever and kitty needs to be dealt with in a loving way. You're doing the best thing. Cats belong inside the house. Obviously, this little guy wants to be inside too, so see if you can help him out with that. It's the best thing to do. The original owners will have to deal. I doubt they are even looking.

Do the best you can, but also keep in mind that many cats live outside all the time. In the rural area I live in it is considered ridiculous to NOT let a cat roam around outside. Mine is strictly indoors, but most people let their cats run free. They are resilient animals, that are much smarter than you think. Even at a young age. Good luck!

can you take the kitten? You could put ads up in the grocery stores, you could even find a local fosterparenting thing for animals while they're waiting for adoptions (if you are allergic and can't keep it)--call the local humane society for suggestions. Also the owner has some responsibility also. Maybe post flyers in your neighborhood. Don't take it to the pound until you've exhausted all options--but don't let it be a stray. The streets are a hard place for an animal and death might be more humane than being mauled by dogs or splattered by moving vehicles.

I would put an add in the newspaper and flyers up around your neighborhood. Give yourself about a week or two and if no one calls or come by to claim the cat then put an add in the paper to adopt the cat out. You can always check with vet's offices to see if they can take the cat. If you do take the cat to the vet's office and they have room to board the cat (and adopt it out), offer to pay for the annual shots or for it to be fixed. Some vet's offices may even do a good samaritan thing. That's where they would give the cat it's shots for free but you keep the cat and find it a home.

Put up signs that say found cat, put ads in the newspaper and on the radio but if no one contacts you in I'll say a week and a half you can give her away but be sure to tell the new owners that you did find the cat and he may have owners bur most likey he is a stray

You have to put up flyers around your community and in the mean time keep the kitten away from the dog. You also have to think: have you met anybody that has a cat or told you that they were going to get a cat? If there are people that have told you that or have a cat, contact those people A.S.A.P.

If it is only a baby you should take it in(so it doesn't get hurt by owls and what not) and then check with your local animal shelters. Many owners of lost pets will contact them trying to find it. If nobody has called about it I would try and find a no-kill shelter in your area. If it is only a kitten it has a REALLY good chance of being adopted.

If you can find a good home for it and you can't find the original owners (if there are any), then sure give her away. A loving home is better than a shelter.

A couple of weeks ago I found two stray kittens. I put up an ad on craigslist.org and I quickly got a bunch of e-mails offering to take them.

You can keep it or give it away, it is right. If you give it away tell the new owner that if they find the real owner of it they should give it to them.
