you can never talk someone out of their blind faith, but if enough people bring up enough good points against their beliefs, they will start to question them and the seed will be planted. Just study evolution and creationism and point out the obvious fallacies of the latter.

There is no good way to logically convince someone their faith is baseless. Logic is an action of the mind and faith is an action of the heart. Faith is the ability to believe in things, no matter how illogical, that lead to a hopeful or wishful outcome. True philosophical change can only come from discussion, research, and personal contemplation. You may initiate the process but the convining must come from within the believer. People have a need to belong to a greater essence than themselves and cannot be easily convinced otherwise.
I lean towords humanism and therefore believe "god" is the sum of all that man is capable of and not some diety to be worshipped. With this idea, I need no greater essence because I am already one with "god".

These links can help explain the philosophy.

I am not an atheist, I love God with all my heart & now Im on a journey to embark an indepth knowledge about Him and it is one of the most exciting adventures that I ever had in my life. I know for that reason Im unqualified to answere your question. But still I couldnt help noticing the contradiction in your system of beleif .

A while ago I saw the answer you gave to someone who wanted to make a pact with satan & recognised that you definitly accepted satan's existance in this world. If God is someone who does not fit into our rational thinking, Im sure that satan is also not different either. If you accept the existance of satan how can there not be a God? If you cant find answers as to what made God, and how did He ever come to exist, these same doubts should bother you about satan too right? How can there be only darkness without a light? How come you accept one supernatural being and purposefully blind your eyes to the other?

I'll add some additional details.

Everything in this world exist in a binary oppostions, like, man / woman, good / bad , black/ white , light/ dark and so on. Without woman man does not have a meaning , and so is the vice versa. It is this opposition that creates meaning. This applies to the concepts of good and bad and to its ultimate personifications God/ Devil too. God means the opposite of Satan and so does satan means the one who rebels against God. So if this is so how can one say that one exists and the other doesnt?

So if one has to reject the concept of God one has to reject the concept of satan too. otherwise its a contradiction. The argument cannot stand. Or one can accept both existance and should consciously decide with whom he should take side with. There is more sense in that.

You can believe that God doesnt exist & He is just one of the creations of the human minds. BUT WHAT IF HE DOES EXIST? What are you missing in this life? You are abandonning the most interesting knowledge that one could never put an end to? You are refusing to understand the depth of riches about your life which is undeniably connected to God? Are you denying the completeness of peace that would come in course of the search of the Divine mystery of God?

If these things doesnt have any meaning for you then you can still pursue your beliefs. I hope that your belief will provide what you need in your life. And thanks for providing the link Godchecker.com. That was what i needed in my search for finding out the mystery of the One ultimate God , that runs through countless religions.

Since you atheists log onto (To Believers/Spiritual Forum Only) ...The best way to convince religious/spiritual believers their "FAITH" In GOD Is Baseless Is To:.....Convince hundreds of thousands of believers that their prayers didn't work, (when they did), ( convince them that Miracles didn't happen, which they did), and( Dis-prove the EVIDENCE)!....better start now because you atheists got a lot of work to do!...PS..By the way, Prove that also to this whole nation, because this whole nation believes in GOD, ....That why even the money you spend everyday, says, ("IN GOD WE TRUST)!!!!!!.....

I spent a long time the other night trying to make christians stop yelling at me because i wouldn't buy their religion. That makes me want to say that you shouldn't try to change them, however that night they used several arguments that i quickly thrashed.

They asked where we came from, and where the first primordal ooze came from. I asked, "if there is a god where did he come from?".

You know what you know, and you know what some of the things you don't know are, but you have no clue most of the things you don't know.

God is what people grow up accrediting everything that they can't or don't understand to. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean you should accredit it to God.

Christians hurt people everyday, especially homosexuals.

I can't say for sure that there is no God, but I have a hunch and I'm not gonna waste my time.

I usually just say, "ditch your religion, become a human"

I'm sorry that was completely incoherent and nonlinear, but i just woke up and i typed it as i thought it.

Consider reading the History of God by Karen Armstrong. It gives a good background on the evolution of religion, one from the other beginning with greek mythology evolving into monotheisitc religions of Judaism to Christianity etc... you will see the history of religion so you can make an educated argument, but you may also see reasons to just let people do their own thing.

You can't seem to convince them of anything they are so infatuated with their remote pop-god like fans are for their remote pop-idols.
The only thing you can do explain to them just what the Bible really is and how it was compiled.
People living a God delusion are unable to see it as such because it is a mass delusion and one they willingly reinforce in each other constantly to keep the religion mind-virus going strong.

I would consider it highly unethical of myself to try to force someone away from their belief system and into my non-belief. I don't care for it when someone does it to me and I'll not turn around and throw rocks in a glass house.

Everyone has a right to believe as they will. Just because some choose to believe in deities I don't believe in does not hurt me in any way. People only change beliefs when they are ready not when someone tries to force them.

There is enough anger, resentment, hate and negativity to the world.. I'll not add to it.

Do you enjoy it when they try to convince you that your beliefs are baseless?
Neither do I, which is why I let them get on with it. If I want someone to respect my right to believe, I have to do the same.

You can't make somone not believe in God...I'm
Lutheran-Christan...I believe in God...so...if you try to make people start NOT believing in God then who WILL believe? I have a friend who say she doens't believe in God and she says there's no Devil...but I say otherwise.....I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO MAKE OTHERS NOT BELIEVE IN OTHER THINGS OR PEOPLE...like God....He's real....just because you can't see Him doesn't mean He's not real...if it wasn't for God...this entire universe wouldn't be here which means WE wouldn't be here either! Does that explain enough for you?! I hope it does! So here's my answer in short term: YOU CANNOT MAKE SOMEONE NOT BELIEVE IN SOMETHING...especially if it's something of their religion...
People believe what they want to believe...

Signed,
Riley's Girl

P.S: If I sound like a real churchy person, think again...I don't even go to church...not tryin' to sound rude about that or anything!

By convincing them that if they would only let go all thier bull crap beliefs, we could then progress into a peaceful and practical people. Why do people think all our laws and morals will be thrown out? Laws will still stand! REligion does NOT write our laws!
