I have used priceline.com in the past and had no trouble with them at all. You name your price and if they cannot get exactly that price they will negotiate for you and keep you informed of offers via e-mail. Just start a little early in order to get the best deal and keep going until the last minute you are comfortable with before securing your deal.

Hello,
As an avid user of Priceline, you can get some great deals on rental cars and hotel stays. For instance, a hotel that I plan to stay at in Portland, Oregon next week is advertised on every other travel website for $189. My Priceline offer of $80 was accepted! That's a deal! And another time, rental cars in Las Vegas were advertised at $29.99 +taxes a day for a compact. My Priceline quote of $8.00 +taxes a day was accepted.
Airline prices, however, are a bit different. You can get super, super deals the day of or the day before the flight takes off if capacity is completely low (30% full) on the destination you plan on going to. I once got a flight deal for $128 + 10 in taxes from Seattle to San Diego (+1 connection). However, airlines in recent months have been cutting back on the number of flights offered - hence these deals are starting to disappear.
I would personally avoid Priceline for airfare; unless you want to have some fun in your spare time and try to input some ridiculous airfare bids (40% or higher off the retail). The reason to avoid Priceline for airfare is you may get an awkward connection, two or more connections, no air miles, no choice of seat preference, etc. And honestly, 95% of the time the savings are not that great (might save less than 10%), unless you can snatch a deal like I did where the capacity of the flight was dead empty.
Unless you can cut your airfare by over 40%, you might as well pay the extra $10-20 on another travel website or airline site and reward yourself with the perks (air miles, chance for upgrades, more flight control, seat choice/preference, etc.).
Always try to push your low bid regardless on what the screen says (your screen may say: We will submit this bid, but the average price for your trip is $----).

Personally I don't like them. Yeah you might get a price you want but you have ZERO control over when the flight is (It may be at 4:00 AM) or what your hotel is.
try this site and see if it helps on what price you have found already.

I have used it once and I believe that it works and can make thing significantly lower, but I believe you cannot get a refund and must catch that specific flight.
