It really depends on the breed, if its a pure bred, and if its AKC. The price can be anywhere between free and $1500.

It all depends. Pure bred dogs are usually bred by private breeders and they can be found via newspaper or internet. You can also find mixed puppies in the newspaper or internet for FREE!!! If you really want to do something good though I would go check out your local animal shelter.....you can normally get a puppy (or dog that is already trained!!) for somewhere between $50-$100 and that includes neutering, spaying, first round of shots....Now that is a good deal. Plus you know you are helping a puppy who has no home!! :(
Here is some info about adopting from a shelter
http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_adoption_information/adopting_from_an_animal_shelter.html
Here is some info about getting a new puppy in general

If you don't have a lot of time...and I mean A LOT of time to commit to your new puppy to train him I would definalty consider getting a dog that is 1 year or older and already trained. You and your new friend will be much happier!!

What kind of puppy? Different breeds cost different amounts.
You can go to your local animal shelter or rescue center and adopt a puppy for around 20-50 dollars and they will have already had thier shots and usually a shelter will spay or neuter for free if you adopt from them . Plus you will be giving an unwanted animal a home. You can find many different breeds at shelters pure and mixed. Call Around in your area.
Pure bred english springer spaniel males run about 250.00 females about 300.00 these are what I have. With papers.

What kind of puppy?
That's important.
Also, do you want it to be AKC certified? A purebred?
Puppies can be had for free if you look in the paper, but if you want a purebred, show dog type of puppy, get your wallet out - cost changes depending on the type dog; Purebred Irish Wolfhounds are $1500 to $2000, Shizh Tzu's are around $400 to $500, etc etc
I prefer the mutts - they are much for fun :)

Well, i paid $600 dollars for my maltese, but i got her from family really cheap. it really depends on the breed of dog you are looking for and where you get her. You may pay more but i would suggest a private breeder. No Mills or Pet stores. The dogs you buy from them are generally overbread, and in very poor health. I even bought my big dog from my local Humane Society. Check out all the options.... best Of Luck

LOL
What kind of puppy & who will you buy it from? Purebred with papers. Purebred without papers? Mixed breed? Mutt? From a store? From a reputable breeder? From a backyard breeder? Adopted from the Humane Society? Rescued?
And what do you mean cost? Basic cost of buying/adopting the dog? Or also the cost of spaying/neutering? The cost of shots & vet exams? The cost of food? The cost of medicine? The cost of toys? How about a fence or carrier or crate?

Cocker Spaniels- around $300
Springer Spaniels- around 250-350
Beagles- we got ours for $300 but from an expierienced breeder who knows what shes doing, but could get as cheap as $150
Terriers- around 250-350
I suggest you adopt from an animal shelter since mutts usually have fewer health problems and they need good homes.
Prices could vary greatly depending on where you live and who your getting them from. Good breeders usually charge more. Females are usually more expensive than males.

It depends. It can vary from $0 to a few hundred dollars. Check out local shelters, the humane society, the newspaper, PetSmart, and veterinarian's offices.
