Ok, what's with this thing with Huggies or whoever it is - they're making diapers for kids who are like 7-8 years old? Isn't there something wrong with that picture? First you have the diaper commercial for the little toddler who's saying "Mommy - wow! - I'm a big kid now!" Then you get the other commercial with 7-8 year olds saying "I get embarrassed when I wet myself at my friend's house."

Diapers for old kids - are they, in a sense, telling those kids that's it's all right to STILL wet yourself since we (the diaper manufacturers) have a solution for you?

Sometimes, especially boys, bladders to not mature until they are 7 or 8 years old. My husband was humiliated when he used to wet his bed at that age by his parents. My son, who now does not use them, needed the overnights for the same problem. Luckily they both outgrew this. If you read more about the subject, it does take longer for bladders to mature enough to make it through the night. It is a lifesaver for a lot of kids. Hope this helps.

Some children, mainly boys, don't mature their bladders until later in childhood. Myself, I didn't quit wetting the bed occasionally until I was almost 12 years old. I'm now 60 and due to medical reasons, I've started again.

That being said, when a child is that old and is invited to a sleep over, you can imagine his embarrassment when he wakes up wet in a friends house and possibly his friends bed.

These diapers or pull-ups are made for those children to use to prevent that. If his mom is sensitive enough she will tell the other mom about the problem so that if/when the child wakes up wet she will help him to get rid of the diaper without embarrassment.

Yes, it is another way for the big companies to sell more diapers but it is for a very good reason. Where would I be at my age now, if there weren't adult diapers for me to use. My wife gets very upset if the bed is wet in the morning, and this is something due to nerve damage, that I have no control over.

These children are essentially in the same place as I am, their bladders aren't developed completely and they don't have any control over what happens while they are sleeping.

Personally I'm glad that the companies are making that size diaper, I wasn't that lucky and took a lot of teasing during that time. Believe me, it wasn't fun.

I think it okay to let any kid wear a diaper if they want to no matter the age as long is it makes them feel comfortable and happy. Secondly the kids could always change themselves and diapers give kids the benefit of not having to hold there pee or poop and find the nearest bathroom especially out in public where a bathroom could be far away. Diapers could really benefit a child no matter the age and the diaper would cause not harm to anyone or the child.
