Hi there, I used to teach at a daycare center, and we went to a convention to where the guy who wrote the song was there and preformed it for us using costumes and everything. It was about an aligator (or maybe crocodile) and there were monkeys who got too close to him and he chomped them. It is really a song and I would love to know who sings it and the name of the song. Thanks ahead of time!

The name of the song (at least as I know it) is "Five Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree." Anyone can sing it. As far as I know, it's part of the the public domain. Also, to build upon the previous answer, there are subtle variations to the lyrics but here's how I sing it.

Five little monkey swinging in a tree (swing your forearm with the fingers spread apart).
Teasing Mr. Alligator, you can't catch me, you can't catch me (wag you index finger or put your thumbs in your ears and and wave your fingers)
Along comes Mr. Alligator as quiet as can be (extend arms in front with your palms together).
And he snaps that monkey right out of that tree (rapidly open and snap your hands together in clapping motion)

Repeat; each time reduce the number of monkeys and thus the number of fingers exposed in your hand. You can check out a similar version of the song via the link below.

5 little monkeys swigging in a tree,
teasing Mr. Alligator "you can catch me na-na-na boo-boo".
Along comes Mr Alligator quiet as can be SNAPS that monkey right outta the tree!

make sure to swing fingers for monkeys and clap real loud when you say snap...the toddlers at my childcare center love that one!

Also we add a diff verse to Row Row Row your boat...when you get to the Marrly part say "if you see a crocodile dont forget to scream!!" then kids all scream ahhh!
