My goodnes, all of you watch way too much television, Soldiers dont yell they use hand signals, why the hell would you give away your position and tell the enemy you are about to grenade them????????

So that everyone knows to duck and cover. There might be people around that you didn't know were around and that gives them warning. Sort of like yelling 4 before making a golf swing.

That way the enemy will know its coming, then they can pick it up, pull the pin and throw it back. Since you've asked that question, it tells me your common sense elevator doesn't quite hit the top floor, so yes my response was a joke, don't take it seriously.

So friendlies know to cover... a common courtesy, if nothing else. Wouldn't look good if your grenade put shrapnel pieces in your CO's leg.
