They say metals pieces fell that way, if it's to be taken seriously, couldn't that be taken as a sign of evil leaving their trademark?
And a cross isn't a complicated symobol, it's only two lines crossing each other. If it was a jewish star then I'd say "wow!", but two lines crossing each other isn't unlikely.

You answered your own question, take millions of pieces falling and something will end up looking like a cross.

it's like the virgin mary in the piece of toast, a water stain, a tree trunk, etc. look for something hard enough and you'll find it. people saw a cross because they wanted to.

Even as a practicing Catholic, I would probably take this as just a coincidence.

don't you think it's so cool how it fell and stuck together like a cross, i think it means that no matter what happens god is always there watching over us and that in particular reminds us of him
