No, but I was well on my way when I was in Germany. I've been sober for about a year and hopefully, I will take it easy once I get back to Ktown.

In my opinion an alcoholic is a person that drinks to get away from life's issues. I must admit that i probably need to cut back on my drinking however i don't think that i am an alcoholic. I only drink on the weekends with friends and i don't get drunk. It's not like i HAVE to have some liqour every weekend, b/c i don't. So my answer is that no i am not an alcoholic however i could cu down, maybe then i'll lose the 10 pounds i want to get rid of.

Most people don't know what an alcoholic really is. It is not, as most believe, someone who just drinks a great deal.
An alcoholic is someone whose metabolism has changed due to the abuse of alcohol; they become functionally dependent upon it in order to function. However, typically an alcoholic requires very little at all to get the "buzz" they require to function. They also become experts at concealing the fact that they are, in fact, alcoholics. When I said that I was surprised at someone being at a bar during lunch, saying I had never seen him under the influence, someone laughed and said I had never seen him sober. He needed the stuff in order to function.
For example, a person I counseled would get a six pack of beer on the way to work. He would drink one beer which would keep him high until mid morning somewhere after 10. I remember asking him how he drank at work and he said he just went out to his car trunk for another of the beers, which would hold him until lunch. When, naively, I asked how he kept it all cool in the Florida heat, he said that he didn't; he just drank it at whatever temperature it had turned to in three hours of the Florida sun!
I tell this story to illustrate the absolute need for alcohol in an alcoholic, rather than a preference for alcohol.
Sometimes, unfortunately, our metabolism changes when we don't even drink that much, like the case of a 73 year old grandmother who drank two glasses of sherry every day of her life. One day the police had to come arrest her because she was walking around swearing and threatening her fellow apartment dwellers. She had no recollection of the experience, but... she had to come to the realization that she couldn't drink any more. She was an alcoholic.
When you become an alcoholic, the self-realization comes very very hard. I suggest that everyone attend an AA meeting at least once in their lives. It will be an eye opener to just listen.

Absolutely.

I drink about 2 to 3 drinks a night; but don't drive.

It's either 2 beers and a mixed drink, but usually no more than that.

Irony is, I get up earlier when I drink the night before, not LATER - and I have a hang over if I DON"T drink the night before.

It's quite puzzling, but for me, it's the truth.

No, not at all. I go out to a bar, have 2, 3 drinks, then it's water the rest of the night. I do not like getting drunk, do not like being out of control. And, I'm usually the driver, anyway.
