Dear lady:
Mini steppers are small groups of 3 or 4 steps (small ladder), that you have to climb up and down at least 20 time per day.
Thay are supposed to fortify the extensor muscles of the lower body, among them the three main muscles of the gluteal (buttock) area, and the two gemnini and soleum muscles that we all have in the back of our legs..
Exercising those muscles, as with any other apparat, will increase muscle volume of bum and legs, making them more shapely, however this visible effect will take place in 2-3months, if You are constant (an keep doing it for many more months).
The same result can be achieved by stepping 4 steps of a staircase up and down backwards carefully,(walking on your toes) tensing the muscles of the gluteus (buttocks) and back of the legs by climbing on the toes only.
Yours

Benefits Of A Mini Stepper

It will give you a thirst and a hunger, you will drink and eat (probably lots of chocolate) which will go straight to your bum and thighs - maybe your belly too! The impact - like jogging - will weaken your knees and hips which may need replaced by the time you are 60 as a result; the loneliness of doing this exercise at home will lower your self esteem and the endorphins produced will be swamped by waves of depression, the pain of rejection and self-loathing; you will compensate for this by drinking even more fizzy stuff and eating even more chocolate which in the short term will make you feel great but after the high you will plunge to even greater depths; you will either follow the advice above and take up cycling or walking - you could even go for a swim - and put your jogger on top of the wardrobe, under the bed, into a charity shop or give it to someone you dislike OR do even more stepping, committing yourself to vicious circle of elation and depression, toning and stuffing, perhaps experimenting with bulimia (you are what you puke) before being dragged to the Doctor by people who love and care about you where you will be prescribed PROZAC and will have lots of pejoratives added to your negative reputation which will haunt you for the rest of your life - even after the hips have been replaced, the teeth rotten by sugar have fallen out and been replaced, your weight has yo-yoed until it can yo-yo no more and settles into the shape of a TELLY TUBBY and you walk with a waddle.
If that's the future you want, that's the future you can have by keeping your STEPPER - the choice is yours :-D

I would recommend walking it is free and enjoyable, also swimming really is a good all round exercise, what about hula hooping? taking you back to the days of your childhood it is a real scream and works very well on the top half of the body once you have mastered the art of keeping the hoop swinging around your torso! Walking up stairs tones legs believe me I walk up to my office on the sixth floor everyday and have noticed a tremendous different once I got over the first month it got a lot easier and I no longer feel in need of oxygen at the top, sounds boring but if you alternate with other forms of exercise it is fine. Pilate's is great tones firms and works your core muscles by doing exercise that really feels like your not doing anything, I have been doing lessons and love it. Boxercise? not my favourite but a good all rounder. Cycling terrific but you need to be an all weather cyclist and brave enough to tackle traffic if your home is a big city like London. My best bit of advise it find something you enjoy doing Salsa or such like, do not put your expectation to high and allow for the days when you might not do anything there will be tomorrow.

Get a bike, go riding and have some fun, it will do the same thing, or join the gym.

Most gym stuff bought for the home ends up in the charity shop,
