Take your son to Toys R Us and let him choose. If he seems to focus on one longer than the other, it will serve its purpose longer.

I purchased a Fisher Price Intellitainer that glided back and forth and spun in circles to allow for more freedom of motion. Now that my son is walking, he still likes to play with it. I simply removed the seat and he now has another learning toy to play with in his room. It has nursery rhymes, counting, music, opposites, alphabets, and bunches of other things for your little one to do. The seat was adjustable to accomodate his growth.

That one is a great on and nope you can start them at 4 months in one!!! Just don't get one that moves all over there are some that go in circles and it is recommended that you not leave them in there to long of a time frame because it puts pressure in the Wong areas of their hips. I would put my son in for 15 mins at a time with a 2 hour break and he is 9 months and walking :( and my two year old before i found this info out ii would leave in there for 30 to 60 mins at a time and he didn't start walking till he was 11 months

It doesn't matter what brand you get as long as it has plenty of activities for him . You may also want to make sure it has a place for snacks to be put and try to get one that you can remove all or most of the toys from for easier cleaning.
