Why do others not condemn them like they do with homosexuals and thieves? In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (yes in the King James version), Paul offers a list of sins that would keep a person out of Heaven. Among those listed are theft, homosexuality, and adultery. However, it seems that only thieves and homosexuals are condemned out of the three. In Luke 16:18, Christ defined a man or woman who has divorced and remarried as also being an adulterer. So shouldn't remarried people be condemned as well? Why are homosexuals and thieves the only ones getting picked on by Christians?

First, you should know that divorce rates among devoutly practicing Christians is significantly lower than the national average.

My religion, Roman Catholicism, takes Luke 16:18 more seriously than probably any other form of Christianity.

There are some cases where a couple enters into a wedding ceremony without an intended lifelong commitment ("If it doesn't work, I'll divorce") or without an openness to having children.

If such is the case, the marriage is invalid from the start, from a Catholic sacramental point of view. In such a case, an annulment can be declared.

An annulment is not a divorce with a different name. A divorce ends a valid marriage. An annulment says that no marriage existed in the first place.

Annulments and divorce both exist in civil marriage law.

In the Catholic Church's teachings on marriage, though, there is a such thing as annulment -- but there is no such thing as divorce.

First, remarriage after the death of a spouse is not a sin. Remarriage after a divorce because of fornication is not a sin.

Matthew 5
31It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

As far as speaking out against this sin, how do we know a divorcee didn't divorce because his or her spouse cheated?

Also, divorce and remarriage after divorce have become far more common across our nation than openly admitted homosexuality. Consider the impact on the congregation of a church if that church's stance is openly against remarried divorcees. A church's financial income is often dependent on the number of butts in the pews. I theorize that many churches take a more quiet stance against this particular sin in order to not lose parishioners.

That doesn't necessarily make it right, but it may be a valid answer to your question regarding who Christians "pick on". Another reason is because those who are openly homosexual have put themselves out in the public view demanding rights and arguing that homosexuality is not wrong and thieves directly impact people's lives while remarried divorcees quietly go about their business. The former two demand attention and some Christians will give it to them while the latter are not so obvious, often living beneath the radar.

I think you are mistaken and misinformed or have run into a few Christians that pick the above things as "hot topics".The only thing that will send you to hell is the rejection of Christ as personal Lord and Savior. Period! Now, sin will keep you from acknowledging Christ or really knowing him. For example, homosexuality is one of those sins that is hard to overcome. You cannot call yourself a Christians and believe that homosexuality is okay. You can be homosexual and trying to fight the sin and be a Christian. There are many people that love Christ and still fall every now and then. They get up and ask for forgiveness and pray and pray to not fall again. There is a difference. Just know that rejection will send you to hell not a certain sin. I hope you understand.

You know, that's a really good question. I battled that when I concidered getting remarried.....and this is what I was told by my pastor at the time. Since my husband commited adultry and he was physically abusive.....God does not want you to be in a situation like that, he has so much better for us than that. Also, sometimes people mess up and marry the wrong person. And I did just that.

I know that my second marriage was ordained and blessed by God, so I know in my heart that I am not doing wrong by being remarried and my first husband being alive.

A christian that is unjustly divorced by the mate, cannot marry another until the x mate marrys another, or admits to adultery , or witnesses can say the x mate commited adultery.

As far a Jesus is concerned, a just divorce can only be deemed because of adultery. Hope this helps.

I am Christian and I do not condemn anybody. It is not my place. I'm sorry for those people who condemn you, but they are not Christian if they place these judgements on you. Do not judge us all because of a few who give us a bad name. Christianity comes from the perspective that we are all sinners and that the only way to overcome sin is to accept Jesus' sacrifice for us and to surrender our lives to His will. We accept our shortcomings and we try to give them up to Him to help us to change and to become better people. I hope you will encounter some loving Christians soon, so you can see that most of us are not that way.

God bless.

They, like homosexuals, and all other sinners will be judged... either at the judgment of the lost... or, at the judgment of those of The Church. Those are two seperated judgments... for those of The Church, and all of The Church are guilty of many sins, It is not to determin guilt or forgivness... the judgemnt of The Church is to determin the rewards received in heaven... and those whose marrages are not in accourd with God's will, will lose some rewards for sure...
All sin would keep ALL out of heaven if Jesus The Christ had not paid the sin debt for all who will come to God in The Way He proscribes... If one has not come to God in His way... then that sin would keep one out of heaven just like any other sin or sinner.

First of all, Christians accepted Christ as their savoir. And Divorce was granted by God because of the married couples having hardened harts towards each other.

As for all sinning and knowing you are sinning and sin anyway inspsite of God saying its a sin and not t do it. This is what He has to say about that.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
creation Gen 1:1, Job 38:4, Isa 44:24, Col 1:16, Heb 11:3, Rev 4:11

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23
And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
uncleanness Matt 23:27, Rom 6:19, 2nd Cor 6:17, 2nd Cor 12:21, Gal 5:19, Eph 4:19, Eph 5:3, Eph 5:5, Col 3:5, 1st Thess 4:7
bodies 1st Cor 6:18, 1st Thess 4:4

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
pleasure Psa 10:3, 1st Cor 13:6

You want forgivness from God for being a homosexual? Then repent of that sin, do not live that lifestyle again. Accept Jesus as your savior and live according to the word of God.

---- unrepentant persons will face eternal separation from God because they rejected Jesus as Savior --- no one is good enough to get into Heaven without having Jesus as Savior( In Him we have forgiveness of sins but one must be born again and acknowledge Jesus as Savior)--- (He paid the sin debt) but if people don't believe and accept Him they will die in their sins.
