What's up with some of the answers here? I have 4 kids in a 5 bedroom home. Deal with it! My children are awesome and it's the small mindedness of some of these answers that are so offensive.
In answer to your question:
If your children are close in age and both boys or both girls, the most I ever put together are 2 in a bedroom. If your children are farther apart in age and are both boys or both girls (ex: my oldest boy to my next youngest boy), they should have a seperate bedroom because they each have different privacy needs.
If it's one boy and one girl, they need seperate bedrooms, obviously.
As my family grew, so did my house.

That depends on the parents. For me I quit at 3. That is more than enough since I am the one with the girls all the time. To the extent that I am also the one who takes them out all the time. I am the one who bathes them, dresses them, feeds them. So I quit at 3. I know one family who has 7 children and another who has 12. You stop at the number that works best for you. My sister-in-law (my brother-in-law's wife) cannot handle any more than one child. She has more help than I do.

You need to add more info. It all depends on how big the house is, and how many bed rooms are available. Are the children girls or boys?

If each child does not have their own bedroom, there are too many!
