I want to know why Jihad is being spread without spreading education in Kashmir. Why do Islams hate the non-believers and want to kill them? We , the Hindus are tolerant to the non-Hindus, can't they be a little tolerant? So many people dies everyday due to terrorism in India. Can't they stop Jihad and spread love?
Was Muhammad this cruel? Answer me why do people should follow a murderous religion which tells to cut off the non-believer's head?

Because Islam, regardless of how Muslims try and convice everyone otherwise, has NEVER been a religion of peace. Their goal is to turn the entire planet into a Muslim shariah state. Sure, there are other religions who'd love to convert the whole world, but most other religions prefer to do it by peace. Islam will use any means necesary. If peace is the easy quick way, Islam might try to do that, more often, they find Jihad to be the quick easy solution. For Muslims, the ends always justify the means.

it's not fair to say that Muslims are intollerant because i know plenty of Hindus, Christians, and many other religious groups are just as intolerrant. Jihad gets thrown around, but essentially it's just a war against anyone who isn't a follower of Islam. And even then, it has to meet certain conditions.

Not all muslims hate non-believers, i have lots of friends who practice Islam and are some of the greatest people you'll ever meet.

My point is, don't group people together and make assumptions and judgements. No two people are alike, and they'll always surprise you :-)

Maybe true; however, as grown ups, when they realize that they are way behind all other religions in every aspect, instead of working hard to excel, they resort to killing innocent people. Islam is at the stage where Christianity was 600 years ago in the dark ages when they used to burn heretics to death at the stake. Chrisitianity has since matured. Islam will mature, but the big question will it mature faster than the time it takes to develop new weapons?

"Islam" means submission to God.

"Muslim" means one who has submitted.

People of the Islamic faith are not "Islams" - they are Muslims.

As for your question regarding 'jihad': what you have described has been explained to me as being, in many ways, a perversion of the teachings of Allah, and - at best - is what is known as "qital fi sabilillah" (the political and military struggle to spread Islam, armed fighting or holy war).

"Al-jihād al-asgar" is the 'minor/lessor jihad': the external, physical effort, sometimes involving fighting.

"Al-jihād al-akbar" ishe 'major jihad', the struggle with one's soul, to do good in the face of even and to maintain and cultivate one's faith.

(This is a struggle that many of us face, Muslim or non-Muslim, every day of our lives.)

The answers to your questions are not religious but political.
Islam is actually very tolerant to other religions and does not reject them as being evil or misguided, but is inclusive, unlike christianity. It encourages scientific study, to enlighten oneself, they assign value and rights to women and orphans not found in christianity.

At one point in time, christians and muslims and jews lived peacefully among each other. Islam actually sits somewhere in between christianity and judaism. Islam calls for compassion for the weak and poor.

Why are there so many poor people in India? Why is there such a poor social system? Why do hutu's and tutsi's kill eachother by the thousands, over a million, why do fillipino's celebrate/remember jesus' crucifiction during easter by actually crucifying people.

People who have rocket's and apache's will not commit suicide bombing. People who are in control and have power, will not commit suicide bombings.

Why do christian fundamentalists in the USA kill doctors or gay people? Why are you hindu and not budhist?

I know many atheists who are extremely loving and peaceful, why are you religious?

Jihad to many is an act of self defence, so what are they defending themselves against?

I think you can answer your own questions, but you need to understand a lot more about politics, history and seperate religion in theory from politics, interpretation, terrorism and fundamentalism. They are all different things, but they are all related.

Tolerance by the way, is by definition not acceptance, but silent dissapproval.

To respond to a few people here:
Islam was once scientifically more advanced than christians, the progress is not related to the content of religion itself.

All people are brainwashed since childhood, no matter what religion, or lack thereof, every ignorant person from any religion all over the world, is filled with dogmatic beliefs, including liberal ones. Otherwise, there would be no organized religions, but only individual philosophers, who would realize that not the one giving the last answers, but the one asking the last question, is actually closest to the truth. Think about it.

Last but not least, people who make false statements about islam, or wish to explain all of the worlds problems by the content of these religions, without knowing much about the very content, is no more intelligent (though physically less harmful maybe, not necessarily socially) than the very fundamentalists that spread hate and agression. People who can not differentiate, and generalize islam or muslims here, are doing just that, spreading hate and intolerance out of an sense of superiority, out of pure ignorance.

By the way, any religion can be ripped out of context by quoting only bits and pieces. Usually what is left out in quotes, is the conditions for 'self defence' as well as the part that speaks about forgiveness. Also, the bible says some nasty things about 'non-believers' (like myself) too, but one thing both religious and non-religious people of today do not realize is the context of time.. the definition of 'non-believer' today is not the same as it was back then. Today people often base their disbelief on scientific knowledge that was lacking back then.. non-believers back there were the 'savages', the 'plunderers, the rapists, those with no conscience'. Religion (all of them) in those days, were the foundation for civilization, in a time where otherwise 'survival of the fittest' was the only rule, killing, stealing, tribal slaughters. Those savages were the only 'non-believers' back then..

As for progress, most of the world is very behind compared to the country I'm now (The Netherlands), legalized prostitution, gay marriages, drugs, union for prostitutes, and perhaps soon a political party for definding the interests of pedophiles.

It just depends on your idea of progress and modernity, doesn't it? The evironmental damage, women being viewed and valued only as sexual objects, leading them to stuff themselves with silicones for self-worth, and more.. freedom of speech, used to spread hate, democracy as a holy grail, used by politicians and nations as a tool for 'divide and conquor', colonization, holy wars or 'brainwashing' populations by maximal seduction, advertisement, 'follow your heart, not your common sense' philosophy, which serves to turn people into more easily manipulatable consuming sheep, is not necessarily the ideal, nor progress, in the eyes of many. These are existential questions, not easily answered as many seem to answer them here. I guess most here are just brainwashed, they just believe what they were taught, what they grew up with. Thinking out of the box is a challenge for all of us.
