I have 5 dogs, 2 cats and a one yr old son, people never miss an opportunity to tell me I'm nuts?

..or that I have too many animals.. keep in mind they are all rescues except one, fixed, very well fed, up to date on shots, on flea preventative, etc... so they are very well taken care of, I just took them all to the vet saturday for check ups and spent $300 on check ups, why are people so negative towards people who are trying to help give these pets a home. Like it bothers them that I have so many, even though they dont pay for thevet visits or food, I just want to tell them to shut up!

That's what you should do - tell them to mind their own business. Or dig up some dirt on them and tell them they are nuts for doing that. You sound like you're taking great care of them - I don't know why everyone thinks that they have the right to butt in when there's no problem.

I know how you feel. With my parents, we have 9 dogs, 2 cats, 4 horses, and one fish. No one believes us when we say 9 dogs *lol*

All but 2 dogs were rescues. We have 4 beagle mixes, 2 chihuahuas, one rat terrier, one miniature pincher, and a husky mix(all fixed). The husky mix is the biggest, oldest(14) and the only male.

The one cat I rescued is a beautiful female tortoise-shell calico and the other is a VERY fat 13-year-old male orange tabby(both fixed).

The horses consist of 2 miniature horses, one a 6-year-old palomino gelding, and the other a 4-year-old paint mare, a 13-year-old half registered Welsh Pony gelding, and my beloved 34-year-old Morgan mare.

I know that when you love your animals and people tell you your crazy or you should get rid of some, it hurts.You know what though? Just ignore them, cuz they don't know WHAT they're missing! They are YOUR pets, PETS, not some dog or some cat. And you love them, that's all that matters. You're paying for them, and you own them, nobody else. ^^ I hope they all live long and happy with your son!

You are lucky to be able to care for so many pets. I've always enjoyed having lots of pets too. Right now just have 2 cats and 1 dog and a teenage daughter. Used to have 6 cats, 2 dogs, lots of rabbits and some farm animals that weren't pets. So keep doing what you want and don't worry about what others say.

Same here Amber. I have 4 big dogs (all about 100 pounds each) 2 cats and a baby on the way. My mother is constantly telling me to get rid of my animals like she lives with me. I live in California, my mom in New York. Why the he!! do you care how many animals I have???
All of my animals were resued with the exception of one and I know how you feel. I'm a sucker for a helpless animal. If I owned my own land, I'd bring every stray I see home with me.

I understand. After my pet cat passed away December 2004, we were without pets. Then we found these abandoned little kittens (5 of them) who would never have made it. Everyone said we couldn't have 5 cats but I wish we had kept them all - one did find a new home. These 4 kittens have brought so much joy to everyone in the family!

Who cares what other people think? I applaud you for bringing more life & love into your family! Just because it wouldn;t be someone else's choice doesn't mean they can judge you over it.

After all, you don't say,"No pets? You must be crazy!" LOL

First of all.. That's not a question =)
But I think it's really great what you do.. I wish I could do the same.. Once I had 3 dogs and 7 puppies living at my backyard (not a big one, so I had to look for a home for everyone of them).
If I had the money, believe me I would do the same as you do... and I think you're not crazy you're a great person!!!
As long as you keep taking good care of your pets and your baby, don't listen to any negative person.

people can be so cruel i know, but i commend you on what you have done to save the lives of your animals that you have rescued. my husband and i rescued our cat 9 yrs ago from being put down and 3 yrs ago we rescued our dog from being put in the shelter or put down and we have another cat that we have had since she was born she's 13 now. until the day someone starts to pay the vet visits or food, they have no say at all and you do have the right to tell them to shut up.

if that is what you like , just enjoy it.
I like animals too but i have non, since I can not pay $300 for check ups and .... but if you can and you enjoy why not. But pls do not expect that all people love your pets.
me myself love all kind of pets but some people who behave the way that their pet is human being make me mad.
I have a friend who used to have 7 dogs, 3 cats, one horse, one donkey, and some birds... he was a good friend and I had fun with all of his animals and pet. ( he used to have a huge house ) I have not seen him for such a long time and do not know if he still has any pets or not

Then tell them too tell them they can have thier opinion if they want but they don't need to tell you all the time, and the animals are well taken care of the child is well taken care of so why does it matter and as long as you can handle it who the hell cares? I will most likely be exactly like you when I get older lots of pets and a kid so more power to you!! : )

I have 4 dogs, 2 cats, and 1 husband. I want more, but I simply cannot afford it, nor do I have the room. I can understand that people question this, but when push comes to shove, it's none of their damn business.

Since I really can't fit in any more animals in my current situation, I do DONATE money to my local shelter.

People b---h and complain about my 4 dogs...but what if I had 4 kids???
