If you mean repair damage you have already done to your credit score then yes both can help.

If you have had bad credit, even if you pay everything off the negative effects last for years. By having an open credit card that you use and pay off in full every month as well as make all car and mortgage payments on time. It shows that you are responsible with the credit you have astablished and this will repair your credit faster than just paying everything off and having all CC accounts closed.

Fix? Depends. If there are factual errors on your credit they can be and should be removed. You can do this yourself, but there are companies who wil do it for you FOR A FEE. Might be worth it if you don't want to hassle with it. If it's TRUE, if can't be removed. Like a bankruptcy or judgement. You might be able to negotiate with a creditor to remove derogatory info - say a late pay - if you've re-established yourself. They sometimes can and will remove negative info... if you've been a good customer since then.

Not really. Time will do (Time where you keep a good income, pay your bils on time and stay at the same address for 3 years or more) .

Meanwhile, if you need a credit card number (for buying tickets, reserve hotels or rent a car), you can get a prepaid Visa or MasterCard

Yes, you can fix your credit, but it takes time. Pay all of your bills on time, pay down your credit cards, don't take on any new credit, and don't ever not pay a bill.

If you're looking for help, make sure that you see a credit counsellor, and that they are accredited and above board. You should never pay someone to "take care of your credit".
