I realize this may seem a rather odd question but I am serious and I am sorry if I hurt anyone by bringing up sad memories , When my father passed I could have sworn I seen his hand give a little wave of the fingers. I mentioned this to no one until a niece of mine asked if anyone had noticed such a thing and in all 4 of us thought we saw it but hadn't spoke to one another about it previously. He had been previously embalmed and the hand appeared to be in the original position afterward.

Pretty much everyone. Our mind expects a human to be breathing, and while we don't notice it in the living, we do sometimes imagine it in the dead. Similarly, we are used to a living person moving in subtle ways constantly - just try and sit completely still for a few minutes and see if you can do it. Again, your mind when seeing a dead person imagines these minor movements because it expects them.

chemical reactions/dying nerves in the body can cause movement in certain areas --- there have been times when bodies have actually raised into a sitting position(not a common occurrence) - gasping like sounds have been heard, hand or foot tapping against the inside of the coffin etc ---- my brother-in-law works in a funeral home..... embalming chemicals and practices are improving and the chances of these things happening are decreasing

Well i havent had that happen myself. Though i have been told that sometimes when we are greviing we want to see some kind of life in someone so much that we see them move even though they do not move. now the fact that 4 other people saw it i dont know about that one.
