For cats with fleas you can use Frontline. It's for fleas and ticks. It really works!

If there are obvious fleas on you and the cats then there are also fleas in the house (they say for every 1 on a cat there are 50 in the house but I don't know how true that is).

You need to treat both the cat/s and the house to get rid permanently. DON'T buy flea products from the supermarket or pet shop, they simply aren't effective enough and a waste of money.

Go to/phone your vets and explain the problem and they will advise on both cat treatment and house sprays. Frontline is an excellent product but there are also other, just as good, products such as Advantage, Advocate and Stronghold. Make sure you follow the instructions properly on both the cat and the house.

Your vet may need to see the cat if you aren't registered there already but please don't let this put you off - they are prescription products and a health check is necessary by law.

For the cats themselves, Frontline is the best option. For the stuff the fleas have also infested...depends what it is. Washable stuff can just be laundered, bleach will do on hard surfaces like tile or linoleum, and there are sprays available for treating things like carpet, But whatever you do, do it soon. The longer the fleas survive, the worse the problem gets.
Also might want to consider restricting the cats to the inside, where such vermin are much more easily inhibited. Not to mention that indoor cats have a much longer lifespan than those who are left to roam outside.

Use Frontline on the cats, get them out of the house, then use flea bombs on the house and return a few hours later (according to what the directions on the flea bomb says). Flea bombs are just aerosol cans that spray flea killer up into a room, which spreads out and kills any fleas in the room. You can get them at Walmart or anything like that. Frontline you have to get at the vet.

You need to do a couple things to get rid of the fleas. You need to get flea shampoo for cats, flea bombs for your house-you usually need one can per room, and advantage or frontline for your cats to prevent them from coming back.
First get a Rx from the vet for frontline or advantage and order some, then flea bathe the cats and apply frontline/advantage, then remove the animals from the house and flea bomb the house. After that you should be okay, you might have to bomb once or twice a few weeks later.

Get Advantage from the vet and put it on your cats. Never use hartz or any other flea stuff you get at supermarkets, they can and have killed cats. Then buy a cheap flea collar, cut it into pieces, put a piece in your vacume cleaner bag or canister and store the other pieces in a baggy someplace that kids and pets cant get to. Vacume twice a day and get some borax and spread it in your yard, that will kill the fleas in your yard. So will diatomaceos earth, u can even spread the stuff in your carpet and vacume it up.

Frontline is the way to go. Get it from the vet. You put a couple of drops of it on the cat's neck (where they can't reach to lick it) and it lasts about 3 mos. Also, wash any pillows/cushions/bedding the cat has been on a lot, and clean your carpets in case of flea eggs.

1. Get cats to vet. 2. Treat ENTIRE house - get those flea bombs from the grocery store. Get cats out of house first. Have to bomb entire house. 3. Wash all sheets, mattress cover, curtains, everything you can wash. 4. If cats go outside, get treatment for outside. Only a full-out war will defeat fleas.

You MUST use Frontline or Stronghold(which kills worms too) for the cats sake and your own. also a powder your Vet should have to dust all over tghe house and then use the vacuum cleaner every day.
You must start with the cats, as I had a cat which had a terrible intolerance for the flea bite and his skin became very bad. the vet took over and then he became a beautiful cat. PLEASE TREAT AS URGENT AND SEE THE VET ASAP.
