My pastor said something interesting about the 10 commandments. He said that they weren't meant to be taken as "rules", they are more like "shoulds". Because if you follow God, then you should have no reason to steal, lie, kill, etc. Interesting way of looking at the 10 Commandments, eh?

If you care to read the history of the Roman Catolic you will find that they made the changes... They openly admit this. There are a whole lot of their own writtings openly stating this...
The change to a sunday sabbath was inntituted by the RC... and they openly state in their writting in history that it was done to demonstrate their power... They even state that for those not of the RC who take a literal position on the translation of The Bible, that all others should be observing the Saturday Sabbath of the 4th commmandment.....Because God did not void that commandment.... The RC just changed it for the RC contorle...
The commandment to not make graven images was also changed for the same reasons, and the fact that the RC use graven images in their rituals...against God's direct commmandment.
This is all in the official history of the RC in their own words... No priest or pope can deny it...

The ten commandments have never been changed by God. Men have tried ever since God gave them to Moses to bend them to fit their own needs and desires. Lots of people think along the lines, He meant that for the Jews and doesn't apply to me. How wrong they are.

It was changed by those who didn't want to abide by the ten commandments. And by those that added more laws that were burdensome to the people. Jesus came to fulfil the law not to condemn it.
The ten commandments were given to man by God to show them that they couldn't keep them. Jesus was fully God and fully man. He kept all of the commandments so that he could die for our sins. And if we believe that he did these things, died, was buried and rose again we will be saved.
Now in saying this, just because we can't keep the commandments doesn't mean that we shouldn't strive to.

I did. You'd best obey them lest I add more commandments. I've been mulling the idea of imposing two new commandments: "Thou shall not eat icecream" and "Thou shalt not eat chocolate" On the other hand, I may just wave my hand and command that Madonna (the singer) be our worshipped as the new savior of my flock.

Originally the celestial law was imprinted on the tablets, but the wickedness of the people negated their ability to follow that law, so God gave them a preparatory law that was fulfilled when Christ came.

Who says they were changed? God wrote them and gave them to Moses on Mt. Sinai.
