First of all, you know it's going to be hard so don't look at cigs or watch people smoke. I was once told that it takes two weeks to quit a habit, it worked!!! almost to the day, perhaps even a day or two less than that. works for almost any kind of habit.
will power is the key, and it does sound like you want to quit so I'd try to reward yourself for the attempt and pick something that you like and is healthy for you like red grapes or a piece of fruit. Maybe a beverage, ice tea with sugar and lemon, a smoothie, a pop. Something that you can have at work....when at home you may enjoy a beer if that doesn't make you want to smoke...it can be a trigger though, so you may have to avoid that!
basically don't even look at those coffin nails or be around smokers. don't have any at your house. do something in place of what you used to do and in a couple weeks you'll be home free. the first week is the hardest, check off the days and give yourself some credit for what you are doing....it's very difficult. But as you know, people do it all the time so it can be done, you just have to really try.
Remember, make it worth your while psychologically, give yourself a reward...maybe read your favorite magazine for a few minutes write an e-mail.....anything that will occupie that time where you would usually have a cig.
sounds like you are the kind of person who is motivated to actually do it. plus think of the money you'll save!
You're going to improve your overall heath, lower your car insurance and heath insurance and other stuff like that too.
it's a good move all the way around. Way to Go, and Good Luck!

I don't know if this could help you at all, but I had the same problem. But with me, I was able to take as many work breaks as I wanted since I worked outside, whether I wanted 1 or 100, it didn't matter. So my co-workers and I had no problem going through packs a day. I got worried too, I asked for a different position, they gave me one working inside and upstairs where I couldnt leave, the only time I smoked was on the way home and on the way to work. Now I quit that job all together and I smoke in the car sometimes and thats it, I'm gone back to being a social smoker, but my bf doesnt smoke so that keeps my smoking to a min as well.
I guess what I'm trying to say.... is you can find a reason not to go outside during your breaks, maybe stay in and rest, or make a phone call, or go across the street and get a soda....and if you get a craving... chew gum... replace it with a new one and tell yourself you dont wanna smoke cuz you just put a new piece in your mouth and you dont wanna waste it. Hope it helps.

I quit in Feb with three relapses consisting of 3 cigarettes each. Don't feel bad about the relapse.
You have to find something else enjoyable to do on your breaks, maybe different people to hang with. (Explain this to your smoke buddies). The big answer is find a good reason to quit that you can always bring to mind. Mine is a promise to my daughter.
Use patches and find a new activity that doesn't fit with smoking. I joined a gym (but that's not a new and exciting idea). I really wanted to be in better physical shape and smoking just doesn't work with that! Good luck!

I would try to find some cigarettes that are less harmful. I found some in India (can't remember what they're called) but they're tabacco wrapped in leaves. They have way less tobacco and are skinnier but if you smoke those instead of reg cigarettes, you'll still get hooked on those but they are way easier to ween yourself off of. I switched to them and I was able to bring my amount of cigs smoked in a day from a pack to 3 and now I'm working on 12 a week.

Eat carrot instead of smoke on your breaks, and go to a doctor for help, to get those patches.

In order to quit smoking. Firstly, you have to REALLY want to stop. Secondly, you have to change every habit you have that relates to cigarettes.
Instead of going outside on your break, grab something healthy to eat and munch on that.

I chewed the nicotette gum. I bought the Walmart brand, it's a lot cheaper. It is nasty stuff but it worked. I also tried to do things on my work breaks like taking a walk.

You're going to have to decide that you want to quit. Not halfway. You can do anything you want, if you try hard enough. I've done it cold turkey, and just put my foot down and refuse to smoke......worked for me. Attitude about quitting is everything. Best of luck to you..........

It's hard, but I did it cold turkey and avioded any situation where I would be surrounded by smokers. Try taking up a hobby you could do during work breaks- like crossword puzzles or something.
