I think he's just trying to make a point, not necessarily ask a question.
God also tempts born-agains to go completely insane and lose all sense of reality.

No, God does not tempt anyone to sin. You probably need a better interpretation of that word "temptation." Temptation doesn't just mean "enticement or seduction" but it also means "a putting to the test." When the Bible puts it into those terms (God tempting blah blah blah), for example when you state from Genesis 22:1 that "God did tempt Abraham," if you read the entire text, God is testing Abraham as to whether or not Abraham will obey God (in this context, sacrificing his son only Isaac even though God said that Abraham would be a father of many nations) or not.
In short, God will never put anyone in a test so that that person has to choose to sin. God tempts people (tests people) to try their hearts, as to whether or not they will obey and trust in Him. Trials and testings are for our good.

“Do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.” (Matthew 6:13) Jehovah does not abandon us to temptation or cause us to fall into sin. His Word states: “With evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone.” (James 1:13) God does allow us to be tempted, but he can deliver us from the Great Tempter—“the wicked one” known as Satan the Devil.
The apostle Peter urged fellow Christians: “Keep your senses, be watchful. Your adversary, the Devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking to devour someone.” (1 Peter 5:8) Why, Satan even tempted the perfect man Jesus Christ! What was the Devil’s goal? To draw Jesus away from the pure worship of Jehovah God. (Matthew 4:1-11) If you are seeking to serve God, Satan’s goal is to devour you too!
Through the world that is under his control, the Devil may tempt us to engage in practices disapproved by God. (1 John 5:19) So it is vital that we regularly turn to God for help, especially when we are facing a persistent temptation. And if we worship Jehovah according to his inspired Word, the Bible, he will deliver us by helping us to resist the Devil. “God is faithful,” the Bible tells us, “and he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.”—1 Corinthians 10:13.

God doesn't tempt people, but he allows temptation to occur. Like in the Book of Job.

Well .. there was this time where I was out in the desert, minding my own business, looking out over the scenery, when I heard a voice say "All that you see can be yours, if only you will follow me." My first instinct was to think the I-Pod was way too loud, but I realized it was in fact off.
The voice then said, "Well?" And I answered, "You couldn't make me this offer when I was on top of the Empire State Building? What am I gonna do with a 1,000 square miles of sand?"
As his voice faded away I heard it faintly say "Darn, it never works. I guess they're right about location, location, location."

Tempted should, in most cases, be translated as tested.
And yes God can, and has, personaly tested some. But most testing, by God, is in permitting the tested to deal with life and observing and evaluating the results.

God would leave that to his helper. Its his job.
In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

If you step back and think you will find the one whom tempts is yourselfs, Note the words in the prayere "Lead us not into temptation" and to expond further when christ and peter was together Peter said let it not be so and christ said get from me satan because you care for the things of men. So we ourselfs are the ones whom are the tempters.

No, God allows temptation. He tells us that no temptation is irresistible, that we won't be tempted beyond what we can stand, but there will always be a way of escape.
