Just broke up w/ ex and I hated the apt we were in so I moved back home with parents. My mother has a problem budgeting her money and she always comes to me at the last minute with an overdue bill/ shut off notice. I agree to pay, but then when I talk to my step dad he explains that he gave her the money for the same bill. I admit I'm not the best when it comes to budgeting but I pay my bills, what should I do. Please note I'm not free loading off my parents I give money I was jsut put in a bind by ex and breaking my lease. I told my mother that I will help her but I plan to be gone by the first of the year with my 6 year old son.

tell her you have to get back to her, then call your step-dad and find out if your mom's request is legit. if he already gave her the money then tell her you don't have additional cash to give her, why doesn't she ask your step-dad.

There is nothing wrong w/you moving back in w/your parents temporarily. Also, you should help them pay some of their bills as you are using utilities the same as they are; however, you should not be paying all of them. Did you all not set rules when you moved in?

Let her get something cut off and she will learn how to pay the bills and stop spending on other things.

just ask her if your step dad gave her the money if she says no then ask your step dad if he did if he says yes then go back to your mom and ask her again then say i just talked with dad and he said he gave you money for the same bill i did
