My 2 year old niece got some sort of virus that they dont know what it is or how she got is, but now she is braindead and about to die because there is nothing they can do for her. . I am so sad about this but on top of it i am worried about my son. My son is 2 and half and played with her 3 days before she got sick. Now, I am terrified that he could get whatever it is that she had and die. Please someone tell me if just contact with a child could be contagious!!!

It all depends on the kind of virus and how virulent it is. Not to worry you too much, but it is possible it's very contagious and your son may get it. Do you know what the virus was called? That would help us figure out how contagious it actually is.

A lot of viruses are passed on through droplets- meaning that if the child sneezes or coughs, tiny droplets of saliva or mucous that carry the virus get expelled into the air and if your child breathes or ingests the droplets, it's possible they could become infected too.

Yes, and actually they're all around you all the time. A virus can be transmitted to others by:
1) airborne-sneezing or coughing
2) direct contact with ANY bodily fluid from any other person, especially after coming in contact with an open wound on your body
3) ingestion-eating or drinking something with the virus in it.....example.....eating raw shellfish
4) injection- using a dirty needle or a needle that has been contaminated

This is why many people in the old days made their kids wash their hands before eating. It seems these days people have gotten away from this important practice.

Don't worry about your kids. They'll get all their childhood diseases plus any kind of "bugs" that go around.

Antibiotics can cure bacterial infections, but not a viral infection. We can only treat the symptoms of an initial viral infection and let the body's natural immunity do its job. Sometimes people develop a secondary bacterial infection, from a viral infection, and the doctor will treat this with antibiotics. I wish you the best of luck to you.
