Well given that science and religion can be described as mutually exclusive concepts formed from man's very limited experience with the universe, one can expect both would be susceptible to equal levels of exploitation by the other...

If I wasn't on Drixoril I could probably come up with a comprehensible reason. All I can think of right now is that for some strange reason they think the earth is a closed system and that "complexity" can't come about because the energy of the planet should constantly turn into a less usable form.
It's as if they don't notice the sun at all. It's entropy more than pays for our complexity.

The main problem is that most people do not understand the law of entropy -- not just fundies (though they seem to be less likely to understand it). The confusion stems from the idea that the law of entropy predicts a loss of "order".
That's misleading. "order" in physics/chemistry is not the same as order the way we see it.
For example, a canvas with black on one side and white on the other is just as "ordered" -- on a physics level -- as a canvas with the same amount of paint but that was used to create an exquisite image. Of course, we'd consider the latter more "orderly", but in a physics sense that is not true.
So, it boils down to whether we consider, for example, the earth as being more orderly than having all matter in the universe crunched into a little ball at absolute zero. In the physics sense, the latter is more orderly; in the colloquial sense, the former is.
There lies the confusion.

If entropy were true, and if Earth was truly a closed system (no energy provided by the sun, no solar winds, no comets entering the environment, no space probes leaving our system never to come back) then it is also logical to assume there is nothing toxic or unnatural within our system. Since all matter on earth was here, is here, and will continue to be here, then CO2, plutonium, lead, mercury, etc. are all 100% natural because we simply moved it or altered it at a molecular level and moved some energy around. So nuclear bombs, CO2, lead poisoning, pollution, etc. were all god's plan since she put it here and gave it to us for us to use as we saw fit.
However, without entropy, and in consideration of ever changing energy levels, including ever increasing energy levels from the sun (I'd like to see grass grow without the sun's energy, therefor no cows grow, therefor no yummy steaks for us to eat), then we can agree there is the possibility of "unnatural" things occurring on the planet - like nukes and pollution.
If there is a god, which I highly, and I mean highly doubt, then she is a pretty sh1tty designer and a very poor planner. Just look at god's followers - 'nough said.

What's a fundie? I just prefer the Bible:
29 Therefore I make a decree: Any people, nation, or language that speaks anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be torn limb from limb, and their houses laid in ruins, for there is no other god who is able to rescue in this way.” 30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
Cool stuff!

The second law says things are getting worse (running down). My body is aging and not getting better. I don't run as fast, etc. . The sun is burning out. If things got better, then I wouldn't die. I would produce the body chemicals needed to live forever. What isn't running down? Given more time, life will no longer exist due to the 2nd law unless God intervenes.

Man, Jim, I thought that was an impostor.
I don't see why it could not have been powered by entropy myself.
