it is a bit easier for me to focus on prayer in quiet places.
but what really has to be quiet is the inside of you.
if it's noisy outisde some people have more trouble getting quiet inside them.
so i'd say quiet is a bit easier.

Well, I just can't pray in noisy surroundings, so I pray when it's quiet. There are exceptions; one that comes to mind is when I prayed for my little two-year-old. If you've never had children, you probably won't understand or relate to this, but here is what was happening: she hadn't gone poop for a couple days, as little ones sometimes are known to do. Eventually she began to try, but obviously it hurt her quite badly. Children don't like to do anything that causes them pain, so she was having a very hard time, and was crying profusely. I was near tears too, and considering helping the situation by giving her a suppository, but I prayed first. As I was praying in front of her crib, with my eyes closed, she went poop. Now, with my kids, I KNOW that it could have taken her another entire day to get this job done. That's just how they are when they're constipated. When I started praying, she was just crying and not trying to poop at all, and I think I prayed for about three to five minutes. I hope this didn't gross you out; when you have kids, very little disgusts you anymore! :o) Anyway, that truly was an answer to my prayer - during a NOISY time!

Well, receiving an answer and "hearing" it are 2 different things. God can answer our prayer anywhere at anytime. In fact, sometimes God answers our prayers in the most unlikely of times and places. The important thing is that we see it or hear it when we are supposed to. Sometimes when people think that God has not answered their prayer, it is either because He doesn't answer the way they want Him to or simply because they have not picked up on His answer. I do think that sometimes we are more in tune with God and what He has to say to us in the quiet times. In fact, I heard a very dedicated man of God say once, not long ago, that it isn't what happens in those "public" times, the most important thing is what happens in those "quiet" times, alone with God! I know that if one is truly seeking an answer to prayer and they keep an open heart, they will know when it is given to them! I hope this has helped.

Prayer doesn't work. As there is no evidence of a 'God' how can prayer to such a non-existent being produce results. I used to be a believer but all my prayers went unanswered. In my life I've seen loved ones suffer and die. I prayed for them. Nothing happened. I've see the results of natural and man-made disasters, wars, famines, pestilence, greed, cruelty, avarice and murder. I've prayed for all the people affected. Nothing happened, the disasters went on. I've taken part in prayer meetings, evangelical rallies, attended church religiously (forgive the pun) and nothing ever happened as a result of prayer. I was told at the church that this was because God had given us freedom of choice. What? If there was a God why doesn't He answer prayers? Why does He allow mankind to behave in such a way as it does? What happens when people pray against each other (Just watch footballers come onto the field making the sign of the Cross as if to ask God to be on their side to the detriment of the other.) What if the other side prays for the same thing? Try redirecting your energies into positive actions to make things happen for you, not praying to something that does nothing for you and putting your hopes in that. You'll get better results believe me.

If you're talking about intimate moments during prayer where God speaks to me, those happen more easily in quiet surroundings as I'm not distracted (and sometimes even angered) by the intruding noise.

For requests, however, there is no variance, really. God hears us wherever we are, and our prayer environment has little bearing (I believe) on whether or not he chooses to answer as we'd like.

Noisy if you're sane

Quiet if you're insane

Ever think about getting out of the dark ages and joining the educated, knowledgable of the world

Try observing the known world - testable repeatable observations beat the heck out of praying to something that doesn't even exist. Remove the ignorance - get a real education.

Humanity deserves better.

I don't believe in God. But I pray. I do it to focus my heart and mind. I find it's best to do all such things in quiet private places.

What would be the point of doing it in a crowd?
It's between you and your God, or in my case, me and the quiet spirit within me.

I think if prayer was practiced in private, the whole prayer issue wouldn't exist as a political divider. I also think it's what Jesus suggested.
The temple is within you and there's no reason to show it off to others, whether they are of your faith or not.

My surrounding dont' matter as far as the answers go. However, I find that its easier to actually pray and be focused in mostly quiet surroundings with no distractions.
