The problem is not with the length of the tie down - it's with leaving a Beagle alone outside. They were bred to live and hunt in packs; and they will dig, bark and howl endlessly if left alone. What often happens is that one of the fed-up neighbors poisons it for barking all night.
If you decide to do it anyway, make sure he has plenty of shade, a doghouse for shelter and a water bucket that can't be spilled.

I personally hate to see a dog on a chain, however, I have had a beagle and they refuse to stay put. I believe under the circumstances it would be best to make a run (like a strong rope or wire from one end of the yard to the other. Then put the 40" leash on the dog so he is able to run the length of the yard, yet still not get away. Also make sure he has plenty of water and shade. And keep an eye that he doesn't get tangled up. I suppose you would say he'd have the best of both worlds?? Good luck either way!

For a short period of supervised time, yes.
But to leave him outside for long periods of time would not be recommended. Even if you provide shade, water, food, and other essentials, nothing will stop another animals from coming into your yard and attacking him. Nothing will prevent him from getting tangled and choking himself. Nothing will prevent cruel humans from coming into your yard and stealing/torturing/killing him.
In the summer heat, a doghouse may not provide adequate shelter for him. Dogs should not be left on tie-out for very long - they should be a part of the family.

Would you want to be on a 40ft tie? NO! If the dog is not used to it he will try to get loose. Bitting the tie depending on what it is made of is dangerous. He can eat rope & become loose, or metal can break his teeth. Also, do not forget his neck. He will lose his hair and constant rubbing can & will cause scaring.
Try a dog run. It is safe & will still give him the sense of freedom.

If you are putting him out during the day while everyone is gone fine, but he needs family time when you are home.
Why have a dog if you are just going to tie him up outside. Find him a new home if you don't want him in the house anymore.

It depends on several things: how long would he be tied down? would he have sufficient shade to keep cool - this weather is too hot to leave a dog outside in; sufficient clean water accessible; would there be anything he could wrap the cable around and thus become tangled in it? some dogs tied the cable, rope, leash around their legs or even necks and injure themselves; are there other dogs, coyotes, possums, etc. that could attack him and leave him defenseless; dogs are often stolen by people from their own yards. All in alll, I would never leave a dog tried up and unsupervised.

I would say that would be fine as long as the dog has had the proper shots it should have because no matter how long the tie out is other dogs could still pass through

This would be okay as long as you let him off sometimes and walked him. Just make sure he has shade some toys, water and gets fed regularly (i'm sure you knew that). Give him bones or toys so he doesn't get bored, I have a beagle tooâ¥

beagles like to roam a large area, i have 2 of them, they have an awesome personality, but if you do tie it up, they will need to be taken hunting or just let them run free in a feild for bout an hour. or you will have a very unhappy dog... hope i helped even if my answer isnt the one you wanted, but its completely true

Yes, as long as you don't ALWAYS keep him on tie down. Many dogs are put on a tie-out or runner, and are always kept there. Make sure you socialize with your dog. Don't just tie him out to make it more convenient for yourself.
