My best friend is a wonderful and nice person. the only problem is that she is so afraid of gaining too much weight and wants to lose a lot. she is 5'7 or 5'8 and weighs 125 lbs. I personally think that is good, but she hates her stomach and everytime she watches movies the first thing that she notices is the lbs that people carry around their waist.

i dont know what to say to her or show her that there is nothing wrong with her (shes not bulemic or anorexic or anything)

your best friend and i have something in common! i obsess about my weight all the time and ive got a really round head, which makes it look really fat. and the first thing i notice about people on tv is how thin their face is and i want to lose weight so my face looks thinner. they worst thing you csn do is tell your friend she is not fat, coz i know how much that annoys me. you've just got to let her keep thinking what she wants and eventually she will stop. my firends stopped telling me i was thin and i am not as bad as i used to be with obsessing about my weight. i hope this works, sorry i cant be more helpful!

That is on the borderline of way too skinny for her height. It's all about perspective anyway. Is she looking down at her self instead of in a full length mirror? I've noticed that if I look down my body shape seems more distorted but if I look in a mirror there is nothing wrong. I would just keep lettingher know that she is fine and maybe if she worked out a little bit she would feel better about herself. Not to lose weight but to tone what she's got. Good muscle tone helps the body look more in proportion. The ideal weight for someone of her height should be around 130-135.

tell her that for movies, they choose the best person, of great figure, and there is a very low percentage in the world like these people. tell her you are normal weight and that is important healthwise, there are lots and lots of people overweight, and tell her by giving examples. and like others said crunches help in removeing stomach. increase around 2 everyday, till you can't do anymore, and even walks or unning helps like 30 min a day 3 times a week. good luck. and tell her to decrease fatty foods, and eat more veggies and drink more water

sounds like ur buddy's kinda messed up. She's underweight if anything and any idiot can tell that, however, she can't tell, and if she can't tell she could probably do soem serious harm to herself. The mor she begins to feel guilty about gaing weight, the less she will eat, and the more distorted her image will be of herself. She needs psychiatric help asap, and you being her friend should really be her guide and support

There is nothing you can say, it seems that she has a bad self body image and that is something she is going to have to change for herself. I would say have her go to a nutritionist just to answer her weight gaining concerns, but since you say that she does not have an eating disorder, maybe she always mentions her weight for you to reassure her that she looks fine. It might just be an ego feeding gimmick.

She can do crunches if she wants to tone her tummy. She can also get her body mass index done at her doctors or at a gym.
