I believe religions are the cause of wars!Do you think if people were open-minded about other religions and perhaps drop their own religion, would it help people live in peace.I believe religions are for people who are mentally ill and are looking for an escape.I may be considered an atheist yet are children considered atheist too when they are born into this world.(I think not)

You are right about religion causing war but that doesn't mean we should all drop our religion, those people having war on religion are foolish, you are right about the fact that if only they were open-minded and took time to get to know each other, life would be a better place to live in.But i must say you were wrong in saying religion are for people who are mentally ill coz you are just assuming things, there are different reasons why people join a religion, you can't just assume it is for people who are mentally ill,coz that's just...wrong.You also said you were an atheist,,just think about the world you live in ,how you were born, how can it be possible that another child could come out of a human being..look at the trees, look at yourself, how do you breath..i mean how does your body know when to do something,if you ask anybody that believes in science, they would say your body is just smart. But how did the world get created, why is there morning and night,..who orders the whole thing to happen..WHO is the creator? You might be answering me with science but SCIENCE CAN'T ANSWER ALL THIS PROPERLY, THERE IS SOMETHING ALWAYS MISSING,IT CAN ONLY CLEARLY TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENS!
I hope you are not thinking of the big bang theory, how could a big explosion cause the world to be this way..Just think again would ya.

Children are born into a world of sin and are born sinners, but until a person has a conviction from the Holy Spirit that allows them to make a choice regarding Jesus Christ, and everyone does get that moment, they are not atheist. Being a person with major depression and PTSD, I am considered mentally ill, so your reference to the fact that religion is only for the mentally ill, is slanderous and represents your ignorance. Religions are not ways of escape but ways of looking for answers. They will not provide peace though. Wars are the direct result of greed or someones notion that they are not getting what they want - they being an individual or a collective. Religions can appear as causes of war, but it still boils down to a call to arms that has to be supported or there would not be a consensus for its action and it would not occur. So the answer to your question is no, dropping religions would not change the fact that there would still be war.

No, some people really need it. They would fall into despair

"History does not record anywhere or at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it."

I agree with most of your statement so let's focus on where we disagree.
You believe religions are THE cause of war, that should be A cause of war in my opinion. You should try to be accurate when discussing such sensitive subjects. The last part of what your saying, about the children, doesn't make sense. It can be true or false what you're trying to say but no one will ever know cos you can not find any logical argument or opinion in that piece of text.
Conclusion:You hurt the perception of atheism more than you help it.

religion is natural for a human. Even if we were to drop religion "officially", deep down inside we would still believe in something, even if it was only a nebulous hope for an afterlife.

Besides, religion is just an excuse. War would be a problem without it.

Religion is a man made thing with the help of the ole devil. Weak may be a better way to say it than Mentally Ill. They are searching for God's Love and religion is as close as they have gotten thus far. We need to Pray for their Salvation in Christ. Amen

We need Jesus Christ as our savior and Him only.

Have a good day.

For someone who is pro-openmindedness, you sure are close minded. Just an observation. Religions themselves are extremely beneficial, it's when extremists emerge from that religion that wars start. Religion is one of the few things that keep us from falling back on our primal instincts. If you read the book The Lord of the Flies, that illustrates the effect of our savage and primal instincts.

People are the cause of war who are using religion name to justify all their atrocities.

It is my personal wish that all would abandon all "religion" and come to The Church... but in reality that is not going to happen

Religion is man inventing his own god or gods, and then attempting to get every one else to obay whatever that god, or god's, supposadly decrees.....usualy for the betterment of the one who invented the God...Just leave all your wealth at the feet of the god and leave...in the morning you will feel better... guess who gets the money honey...

Those of the True Christian Faith are not of man invented "religion". We are of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. We know not all will come to God as He proscribes... But all are welcome... The Faith can not be imposed on anyone...each must come on their own.

Religion is a hypocritical crock...It's out moded and unnecessary...If you care to believe in a higher power (assuming there is one)...do it more personally and let's be rid of organized religion. PEACE!
