We've been having high temps too. With the diaper on, there's not much we can do, and I know it's not a bright idea to let the little one run around naked. I use a cool cloth to wipe our son down (he's 17 months) as well as ourselves, and we make sure he's as dry as he can be when we change him. We'll even let him air out a little, so long as he's not wiggly and we can keep "that" covered. He also gets diaper rash cream since he's more susceptable to diaper rash when it's this hot. Other than that, there's not too much that can be done.

First of all I live very near the Mojave Desert and even with the a/c cranked it can be upwards of 90 in the house (110+ outside). I used to have this problem with my son. I found that changing his diaper very often and everytime I change slathering his butt with "Boudro's Butt Paste" helped a lot to keep any kind of rash away or very minimal. Also, bathe him at least two times a day in a cool bath.

Keep it very clean, wash the area with a wet washcloth. Use some powder with corn starch on his buttocks and don't put the diaper back on unless you're going outside. Air works wonders.
If it's heat rash it might take some days to disappear..

If you try all of the other suggestions and it doesn't clear up you may want to try some Gyne-Lotrimin (for yeast infections) mixed with diaper rash cream. My 17 month old grandson got what looked like heat rash, but ended up being bad diaper rash because he was teething again. I had never heard of teething causing it, but the doctor told my daughter to mix them up and use it on him. It worked like a charm, though it took a few days to clear it up. Running around naked helped too, though it can get a little messy! Good luck and give kisses to your little one.

Maybe he had an alergic reaction to something, is he on baby food? That might be it, can you think of anythig knew he's eaten or drank? Try the diaper rash cream, Dr. Smiths, it works wonders for my son. It might also help if you let it air dry. Just keep an eye on him incase he poops. Good Luck!

Let him go without a diaper for a while between changes. Give him a bath everyday. Let him dry well. Coat any part that gets a rash with baby cream or vaseline. If it doesn't go away, see a doctor.

we in India, use coconut oil on burns and heat rashes, which has a cooling effect. I will also suggest you to give him lots of water, and cooling foods and drinks. Keep the baby indoors during the daytime.I am a mother of 20 month old, and she is going through her second Indian summer, and this is what keeps her going during these hot months.

Wow! Heat rash?? Have you ever heard of Neo-sporin? Wash your baby's behind with soap and water...spot dry..and then apply some Neo-sporin...don't get the real high percentage one..get the lower one...My daughter got "milk burns" on her right side of her chin...yep Milk Burns..her little skin was very sensitive...I took her to a doctor and she told me I had done the right thing with the Neo-sporin...

When you can let him run around with his pamper off, when he has a pamper on thou very lightly sprinkle cornstarch on the rash I promise you it works, I have two kids and whenever they get any rashes there, also keep him in the bath a little longer when he is bathing.

Let him go as much as possible without a diaper and keep his butt as dry as you can.. moisture exaserbates heat rash. At night.. COAT him with diaper rash cream, and it won't make it go away, but it will help with the itchiness and irritation.
