Your city have a chinatown? Try there. Plus there is religious taoism and philisophical taoism, both based on Tao Te CHing, and almost thought of as the same thing.

ask around to chinese friends. there may be informal groups to discuss taoism...hopefully not only in chinese language tho! even if your friends dont know taoism, their parents might.

You may be able to find a university student group near you. Also, Travis_W idea about Tai Chi instructors is a good one.

You can practice anywhere. There are Taoist groups all over the country.

Personally I practice Tai Chi. As Tai Chi is focused on development of the Chi (one of the three energies that a Taoist believes we should develop), the very practice of this art is a form of practicing Taoism.

If you find a good Tai Chi or Qi Gong instructor I suspect that it will lead you to a local group of folks at least conversant in Taoism.

I also recommend reading the Hua Hu Ching.

In China you do have sort of monasteries where exclusively Taoism is in practise and being discussed.
