I have been through many pups and if your crop was recently done you should get a Styrofoam cup and sit it on top the head and tape each ear to the cup. You should clean the ears with alcohol but not the incision . Tape each ear to the cup and then run the white tape up and around the cup going under the chin. The cup seams to be gentle on the top of the head and you can still keep the incision part open to air. If you have any questions you can contact me.It all depends on how far along you are on this too. If they are healed you can use a padded tongue depressor and tape the ear to it and then wrap the ear around but you have got to make a crease in the shape of the ear when you tape them this way. That is the best I can tell you as I don't have much info on your pup.

Have you had them surgically cropped? Breeder's method: buy a box of tampons. Use the cardboard part - Then use First Aid Tape around the ears & cardboard.
If the dog has *not* been surgically cropped, you won't be able to keep the ears up, as far as I'm aware.
Natural dobes are the way to go. Why do you need your dog to have prick-ears when it wasn't born that way? Do you want your ears cropped? No one "has" to have it done.
I'm not in favor of mutilating animals for looks either - but if it's already done, that's how they keep them up. The US is so behind the times on animal mutilation - at least in the UK I think it's illegal now to declaw as well. Get with it, USA.
Take good care of your doggie, Dobes bond incredibly well with their people and it's almost impossible for them to ever adjust to another family. Make sure you can keep this dog forever.

If you have had the vet crop the dogs ears they should have shown you how to tape them up.
They make ear forms check out www.houseofhoyt.com they carry them. You can put stiff foam like water pipe insulstion on the outside edge of the ear or tampon tubes can be taped in to them.
It takes work to get the ears to stand and if you do not do the after care properly they will not stand even if cropped.
I see many dobes come into rescue with ears that were cut but no one did the follow up care and they do not have standing ears.

A Dobermans ears need to be cut by a veternerian. They then take rolled up gauze and tape it to the dogs ears to hold them upright. They are left like that for a period of time. When the vet removes the tape the ears will stand up on their own. Please be sure this operation is handled by a professional.

Doberman's ears stand up with the help of a small operation where they cut the ears and then tape them. It is done by breeders but I think it is cruel and not nice. I would try taping them if u insist on it but I would reallly suggest leaving the au naturelle

To get their ears to stand they must be surgically altered (cropped). If this has been done and they aren't standing you can use some curled light plastic with the edges tapped so they don't dig into the skin with some medical tape to hold it on. If this doesn't work then the surgery was most likely needs redone.

No silly, you have to take them into the vet and have them done surgically! They actually cut part of the ear off and then tape their ears up. After they heal the ears stand up. I have a mini pincher and I specifically asked them not to do that to the ears because it is a form of surgery and hurts! Let his ears be natural, he is still gonna look pretty mean! He is huge you know! :)

when I was raising Dobermans, I preferred the Styrofoam cup fez.
Use the small Styrofoam cup..cut most of the bottom out of it for air flow..Mount it on your pups head like a hat..Use 2 inch adhesive tape to tape the ears to the cup...My daughter used to have fun decorating the cup with ribbon and such to make it look like a really cute cap.
Dust cornstarch on the top of the head, under the cup, so that it doesn't get too moist, and change the cornstarch each time you change the cap

Why? Is it important your Dobie have erectile ears? Because, to be real, those floppy ears are protective, and would be better left alone.
I have a Shepherd/Viszla breed, myself, whose ears mostly flop, but can stand up with a little help from a breeze or a head-toss or gravity. They're adorable! We're both happy with them, and he gets along just fine without the typical Shepherd profile. Why make your dog what God didn't?
Learn to love him just the way he is, it's what you expect of him.

If your dog's ears are cropped they should stand up by themselves. If you have a doberman without cropped ears then they will always be floppy. Floppy ears are actually healthier for the dog than cropping them. I had a floppy-earred doberman once and he was such a suckie baby.
