I'm BP2, have BPD and have been off my meds since June 12th. I was taking Lamictal (400 mgs/day), Prozac (20mgs/day), Klonopin (1mg as needed), and Ambien CR (as needed).
I've been doing well off my meds, I am not in such a fog, but the last couple of days I've been getting REALLY pissed off at stupid stuff.
It could be PMS, but I've never felt like this with PMS.
I'm so high strung I feel like someone is taking a cheese grater to my insides!
Time to get back on the meds?

NEVER go off your meds unless the doctor tells you to!! I have gone off them by myself before, and it is always a bad idea. I am bp, also. GO BACK ON YOUR MEDS NOW!!
I know that you felt that you were better, and you didnt need them, but you felt better BECAUSE you were taking them. Please go back on. And dont go off again without a doctors permission. Hope I helped!

Check with your doctor. Hopefully, you haven't just taken yourself off the meds on your own. You cannot go cold turkey!
And never feel alone. It seems like if the people that are truely messed up out there would take their meds, we wouldn't need them! Your brain is an organ just like the rest of your body, and it too can have problems.
My preference is a psychiatrist that is a DO (doctor of oseopathic medicine) that believes in finding the underlying reason for a problem and not just throwing medicine at it. Good luck, and one day at a time.

Please ask you doctor or if you have one your pastor, minister, or rabbi.... Not the idiots in here.
I took anti-depressants (not the same as your story, but along the same lines maybe) for about 5 months.. cause I was down, feeling crappy about myself, etc... and also the doctors prescribe them like candy. After about 3 months I didn't give a crap about anything, didn't show any emotions, couldn't umm "complete" with my girlfriend.. And soon I found out my problem wasn't going to be cured by drugs/meds/alcohol.. I had a hole in my life, I was missing God.
I know a 40 something lady that's bi-polar too.. she has been off her meds for months now (she's still kinda wacky) but she's maintaining "normality" thru-out with the help of God.
Just a suggestion..

Why Why why would you stop meds. BPD does not go away. the meds are what keep you from doing stupid things. Go to the er and tell them you need meds immediately. You could hurt yourself or someone else because you are being stubborn.

Uh...yeah, I think you should. The meds are supposed to make you feel better, but you have to keep taking them to CONTINUE to feel better. For example, I take Straterra for ADD. Since I have been on them, I am more organized and have become a much better student. But if I were to go off of them, I would revert back to my clutter and sub-standard study habits. STAY ON YOUR MEDS unless your doctor advises you otherwise.

You cannot go off your meds. Its textbook BP to stop taking them when you feel good, but if you want to have a normal life stay on your meds or consult your doctor.

Don't stop your meds without your M.D's approval.........
Many of the meds have to be tapered down.
Btw--I suffer with BP2 as well.
