Sweetie at 5'6 and 133, you are far from over weight. Obesity is determined by the amount body fat versus the amount of lean body tissue and that has little to do with actual weight. You could be 5'6 100 lbs. and be obese. How? You could be 100 lbs. and have 25% + body fat (little to no muscle tissue). Also the clinically defined weight/height average is subjective. I am 5'4 130, and 16% body fat check out my yahoo profile to see what I look like at that weight (by the way I've modeled and was a professional dancer and if I weighed what the accepted height weight average for age is, I would look sick and would not be healthy also muscle is heavier than fat. I'm not the perfect, but good and healthy for someone not professionally competing in BODY BUILDING competitions in which 3-10% is the norm (you know those women that look like men with boob implants), b/c under 10% is NOT, I repeat; NOT healthy for a woman. Your reproductive organs need that fat tissue to function properly. Just workout right and eat properly (5-6 small meals; 3 part carb, 2 part protein, and 1 part fat, yes fat. You need some to survive). Go to a nutritionist find out what your body fat percentage is and what you BRM is and work from there. Here is a great source for info, this guy knows his stuff: http://www.geocities.com/~slopitch/drsquat/. I wouldn't be obsessed with weight now, you're a baby, but getting into good habits is a great way to stay as healthy as you alredy are. I wish you the best love, but don't let society (nor so-called friends) affect the way you see yourself. Let it be in a healthy way, a realistic way, and the way you want and not the way "they" say (who ever "they" are no-a-days).

Now if you want to become healthy, manage what you eat. you dont have to stop eating anything , but you do have to understand what you are consuming. remember the basics of weight gain is:

more calories in then calories burned = gain
less calories in then calories burned = weight loss
calories in equals calories lost = maintained weight

but if you want to tone up then you should add some cardiovascular excerise and some light weight training. also remember for every 10lbs of muscle you burn extra 500 cal. a day that is a pound a week.

frontofficema is wrong. The general rule is 100-105 for a 5 foot woman and 5-7 pounds per inch depending on bone stucture. i.e. 5 pounds if you're a small boned person up to 7 if big bones. Also muscle can throw you off if you have alot. I'm 5 feet 115 and a size 3. She is not a medical person or needs to study more. You are absolutly fine.

You might be slightly overweight. It depends. Are you big boned? Are you very athletic? Your build really plays a part. You could have 2 people of the same sex, height and weight and one could look thin and the other could look fat, depending on muscle, build, etc.

I'd go according to how you look rather than by the scale. If you feel you could improve your looks by losing some weight, try adding a 20-30 minute walk every day to your routine.

People can talk all day about BMI, but it isn't accurate. I'm 5'9" and 210, but I used to play hockey, so I have a lot of muscle mass. According to my BMI, I'm obese. Consult a doctor, but I doubt you are overweight. Not to mention, your body will continue to change. My step-son at 13 was "chubby" and it bothered him. He is now 17, 6'3", lean and muscular. Give your body a chance to finish maturing before you get too concerned about weight. Hollywood is so into the skeletal look, it is easy to get confused about what is and isn't healthy.

people are too preoccupied with how they think society sees us..esspecially at 13....your body image is the last thing that should be taxing your mind...just eat healthy..thats all..dont starve yourself...eat healthy and exercise..thats it..as long as you stay active and eat right...you'll be fine...dont buy into what people say is the ideal weight..or what magazine covers show you...love yourself...that is whats important.

"You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection." - buddha

You're not overweight at all! I'm 6"1', 13, and am 177, and i'm not overweight. there's no way you could be. And even if you were overweight, don't think about it like that. That's how anorexia starts. Don't end up like this guy.

You're not overweight at all. So much of our focus is on weight when it should be on being healthy. Just try to focus on that and being happy and you'll do well in life.
