I really like this guy and want to go out with him...how do i tell him that i like him and or ask him out?? help me please

You could sort of set this up as a friends going to hang out sort of thing.
If you live near a zoo or cool museums or something where everyone likes to hang out tell your friends hey lets all meet there Tuesday evening. Call up that special guy and say my friends and I are going to go to the zoo on Tuesday do you want to go out and play with us? Invite him to ask a friend or two of his to come along. No pressure no expectations. Just friends hanging out and having a good time.
A day or so later call him and say .....you know I thought it was so funny or thoughtful or silly, or whatever when you did this when we went to the zoo. I'd like to see more of that. Lets go out and plan again.

Here's a thought-ask him out. I don't understand why you would be worried about "coming on too strong" if you like the guy. Just go for it, guys like girls who make the moves.
