Hey precious_52804. As the only defender of slang and poor grammar you've just proved yourself wrong. You can't even spell "grammar" properly. I also believe you meant to say "they're" as in "they are", and not "there".
Now to the true origins of slang. Slang necessarily involves deviation from standard language, and tends to be very popular among adolescents. To one degree or another, however, it is used in all sectors of society. Although slang does not necessarily involve neologisms (some slang expressions, such as quid, are very old), it often involves the creation of new linguistic forms or the creative adaptation of old ones. It can even involve the creation of a secret language understood only by those within a particular group (an antilanguage). As such, slang frequently forms a kind of sociolect aimed at excluding certain people from the conversation. Slang words tend to function initially as a means of encryption, so that the non-initiate cannot understand the conversation. The use of slang is a means of recognizing members of the same group, and to differentiate that group from society at large. In addition to this, slang can be used and created purely for humorous or expressive effect.
So as you can see slang has very little to do with limited vocabulary and poor grammar, which is what I believe, precious_52804 was trying to say :-)

There is a tendency to shorten everything, to try to say everything with as few words as possible. Slang is a popular way of expressing yourself, but I understand that proper grammar is taught during grade school, but common people tend to think they sound like geeks or dorks if they speak properly. The music, tv and movie industry have not been a great help either. Their language stinks, most of the time you can't even understand what they are saying, like on E channel or MTV.
Some people are just plain lazy and and unwilling to learn or use what they know. You might stress that proper and correct language is required for a job. We have that same problem in Spanish, the new generations are limiting themselves to like very few words and the use them for everything, like where are the adjectives, or adverbs?, some of them can't even describe the way they feel, they say stupid things that make no sense. I think this is a worldwide problem because people read less. This is not about money or social class, I've met people who've studied in very expensive elite schools with that same problem, as well as people who are dirt poor but can express themselves a helluva lot better than the rich ones.
Since good vocabulary is not taught at school my kids, aged 9 and 4, read National Geographic, not the kid version, the adult version, and their vocabulary is growing at a phenomenal pace, as is their understanding of correct grammar and structure. My eldest daughter speaks with her friends using language they will undestand, but she is able to converse with adults as well with no problem, she adjusts according to the situation.
Teach your employees the correct phrases to use when servicing customers, that should help, it is not a racial issue, but they are the image of your business and should use correct and proper language. You will find that many know the difference between good and bad, they probably have never had the chance to use it.
Good Luck

Language is always in transition. I learned this the hard way in my "History of the English Language" course in graduate school. Words, phrases, and rules that we have now differ greatly from what was spoken even a hundred years ago, let alone back when the US was a British colony.
That all said, I hate poor grammar on this site! I'm an English teacher, so I'm extra aware. Language, above all, is for communication, and the reason we have so many rules is so we can communicate effectively.
I would imagine you could find properly speaking college students to hire, depending on your business.

the theory might want to be made (thinking any question that changed into requested) that one is addressing an man or woman's question. In a public talk board, the communique must be at an man or woman element and in proper English. often someone is calling a question related to their newborn and, by using the question's tone is of route meant to bash the instructor, the occupation, the colleges, or the administration. i imagine instructors take offense on the grievance given by using someone who has no actual to criticize. maximum instructors supply their heart and soul to the pastime and then obtain "approach." from moms and dads who provide no help. besides, the stresses of doing a thankless pastime upload up or perhaps as instructors are criticized by using different adults, they could have each and every actual to be protective. .

Some people need to understand that we have a work persona and a persona with friends/family. Slang is OK, just not at work. All cultures have slang, people just need to learn to navigate the appropriateness of using it.

There are two distinct types of grammar, at least there should be-- back on the block and business grammar. Unfortunately some don't know how to or can't distinguish between the two.

I totally agree. I also think much of the poor grammar is intentional. To me it represents a lack of self respect.
