Why do people think christians are always good people?

I mean hows that fair? I mean what if im not christian and i dont want to be? then i get treated differently? why do some people think that christians are kind, cleansed, truthful, generous and all that. Why do some people think christians never lie and they never do bad things? Im not saying theres anything bad about christians but how could some people just belive people they dont even know just because of the god they belive in?

People think all Christians are perfect but the gospel truth is that no one is perfect except God.What people don't understand is that there is more to being a Christian than just to be called a Christian (i should know, i am a Christian). A Christian should have a close relationship with God, but even as that is we all still make mistakes. That's not to say that Christians are not good people, because it all depends on the individual,so don't be angry.

Everyone makes mistakes and no one is sinless - not even Christians. I think that the perception of them being good people is because if they are really true Christians they are trying to have a close relationship with God. If they are at this level, they are trying to live their lives the way God wants them to; which is what will make them want to be kind and better people. But regardless of this, we all still make mistakes at some point or another and will never be perfect like God.

It gives others an idea of their beliefs and values. Of course, all Christians don't follow it the way they should, but it gives you a general idea. But for example, you are not a Christian. We don't know what your beliefs are, maybe you do not have any. You may be a wonderful person with great morals, but we have no way of telling that because we have nothing to base it on. Then again, some ignorant people might think that because you don't share their beliefs, you are less of a person.

Apparently, there are still people who will take church attendance into account when deciding how good a person you are. In some places, you'll find people promoting businesses as "Christian," which they probably want you to think means that they are honest and won't cheat you. (You know, as opposed to selling all they have and giving to the poor, like the Bible *actually* says.)

It's at best dubiously legal, and it's definitely insulting to those of us who prefer to do the right thing because it's the right thing, not because some god says so.

Actually, I don't think that, and I don't think many people feel that way. On yahoo, I've seen a lot of 'Christians; FORCE there religion upon other people while answering questions and such. True christians don't do that. I'm a christian BTW. I guess, the reason why people might get the idea that 'Oh we're all pure' and what not, because of our morals and rules we go by and follow (well atleast most of us)

There are good people every where in this world and in every religion. This is because of their deed, behaviour, nature and selfless sacrifice that they do to the community.

I know some ruthless xians who don't care their parents and became thugs and shot by corps while indulging in criminal activities.

The qualities that you have mentioned is for any human being. "what you give today to anyone will come to you tomorrow"
You give love, ofcourse the love will come to you tomorrow - you give bombs surely it will come to you in the same evening.

Just stand over a high bridge, watch all the passing people under it - In one hour you will know many people with cross in their neck do what kind of atrocities to their own brothern!

That's the pretense for people who wants/needs to preach any form of religion, politic and what not. The problem is when official reps of the said group are violating some very fundamental human / social laws not condoned by current day standard. BTW, it is understood that life isn't fair, that's why we have to talk about it.

DEAR PRINCESS...Excellent question! Christians are very human and must really work at OVERCOMING sin! As for YOU,if you do not feel the NEED to seek GOD at this time,HE DOES NOT JUDGE YOU! He IS judging those who claim to be "Christian" however! We are supposed to be SETTING an EXAMPLE for the world! And if we FAIL? It would be better if we just left the church than hurt those outside who see our poor example! We are being trained to RULE in God's Royal Family! To THINK like GOD,TALK like GOD,and ACT like GOD! Doing "good" is simply imitating GOD! We of ourselves are very selfish,evil,and doomed to perish! GOD is 100% LOVE! We MUST get to the point were we are ALSO 100% LOVE! In closing,if YOU are NOT going this direction at this time,you are NOT being invited by GOD right now. He desires you to do what produces good and happiness--but He simply isn't making you CHOOSE at this moment. This reflects God's mercy and wisdom. Are you done complaining? Did u follow what God wants from you? YES OR NO .. simple.... U should not Complain to US the christians.. U complain to GOD and ask him why u are being like that and felt like that .. Let him give u an answer for u to see it .. I know im not a person who lives in church but i have very strong morals!Christians can be wife/child abusers,rapists,thiefs,etc.I know pepole have heard of the wide spread of molestations in the roman catholic churches by the priests and stuff!So these believers that christians are always good they should really open their eyes!
