I am 21 years old and i have been with my girlfriend for a year and 5 months. My parents live in another country and they really dont know my girlfriend really good. Recently my mom came to visit me since i am in college and i had a discussion with my girlfriend of who should ride up front. She says she should decide if to give the seat to my mom or not. The car is a coupe so its kind of uncomfortable to go on the back... Who should ride shotgun, girlfriend or mom and why?

your mom should ride in the front and your girlfriend in the back. Not only is it respectful, but since your car is a coupe, it would be easier for your girlfriend to get in and out of the back.
Not to mention, you don't get to see your mother that much and your girlfriend should give you both the opprotunity in the car to "catch up" on family affairs while driving around.
If she has a problem with it or throws a fit about it, you might want to consider your relationship status and how much she thinks of you and your family. If you two decide to get married is she always going to try and make sure that she gets to make the decisions on how much you see your family or talk to them? If so, that could make a relationship pretty much unbearable to deal with.

for one the girlfriend doesnt sound very nice at all or respectful, 2 especially since you dont see your mom much she shouls always ride in front and w/ a uncomfortble and hard to do car defanate if the girlfriend has a problem then should stay home, I am a mom and I would give her the seat but w/ the attitude never, I will always give my parents the front seat even till today.and I give my mother inlaw as well and dont get along w/ her

1) Your g/f should insist that your mom ride shotgun. No questions asked. If your g/f thinks, even for a sec, that your mom should ride in back, I'd advise getting out now. She's obviuosly self-centered and will be a huge pain in the @55 as time goes by.
2) You're the man, you tell your g/f she's gonna ride in the back. Any woman that would date a man who would let their mom ride in back is way too selfish.
3) If you, as the man, allow your g/f to dictate who rides where, you need to find your sac (it's probably in your g/f's purse) and inform her where she's gonna ride. Be the man, tell her what's up, and watch how hot she gets for you. If she doesn't, then once again, she's only dating you because of the stuff you buy for her and you should bail on this selfish chick instantly.
You cannot be afraid to lose her. She can't be all that if she doesn't respect/resent you for the way you treat your mom. Any woman who dates a guy who treats their mom poorly is either stupid beyond belief or is only in it for the short term.
IN OTHER WORDS: IF SHE DOES NOT CARE HOW YOU TREAT YOUR OWN MOTHER, THE WOMAN WHO SPENT HOURS IN PAINFULL LABOR TO GIVE YOU LIFE, THEN SHE IS NOT LOOKING AT YOU AS A LONGTERM PARTNER.
Now, when your mom gets here, she may be the polite one, and insist that she sit in back, but it should be YOUR MOM"S CHOICE.

Since its a coupe, go with Mom in shotgun. It is respectful and you should have your girlfriend climb in back without askin as a sign of respect. Even if it is just an act, it will look good. Plus, if mom then says something silly or stupid, you can check your mirror and share a knowing look with your girl.

Mom has to be up front...girlfriend is younger so it's easier for her to get in and out of the back seat.
After your Mom leaves the girlfriend will have plenty of opportunity to ride in the front seat plus your Mom will be very impressed she let her sit in the front.

Always age before beauty. Mom goes in the front and your girlfriend has to suck it up and sit in the back. Your girlfriend does not get to decide this. It's YOUR car, and it's your mom and if she wants to make a good impression, she will park her butt in the back for the short time your mom is visiting. If not, it shows your girlfriend is a bit selfish and you might want to consider that if your relationship continues to get more serious. Good luck!

Your mom should get the front seat. 2 reasons...1. she gave you life and put up with you for 21 years and 2. Your girlfriend should respect her elders. There should be no question here. Tell that girl to get her *** in the back!

Well your in a pickle, I would say that the girlfriend is in the back seat, your mother is a guest, she is the "elder" (respect your elders) and your girlfriend IS NOT YOUR WIFE! If she were your wife I would say get a sedan rental car and your mother would out of respect for you offer and take the back seat.
Something else to consider, how is your girlfriend behaving over the idea? is she behaving "selfish" and if so do you really want to marry a selfish girl?
